First i'm a huge fan of Reason since v2.5 ( it was a bundle with Recycle, for something like 250€, i jumped on the 3 months payement without fees ^^), i've updated a few times, Propellerhead has made an awesome soft. and 129€ for an update indepedently of the user's version is very honest, so after few updates, i've met v9.5, and i still love it.

I remember the time when i first discovered Reason, i spent hours and hours patching my rack, everything was 100% virtual instruments, no audio, a big sound emitting rack, i admit, i have downloaded some refills that did not belong to me, but who has never done that ^^ and it was very limited, at that time, the internet connection was so painfull.

How many hours i've spent, in my cubase sx 2.2.0.33 H2O edition with a rewired instance, doing this and that, it was fabulous, like we say in french, it was my perfect "usine à gaz".

But now i've grown, i have more money, so i've buyed my Cubase license, and recently a Komplete license, so i'm really sorry, but i have to make a choice, i cannot use all of that at the same time, is totally counter productive. So i have to separate myself from my license, it's useless to keep it if i never launch it.

To be honest i did not appreciate some of the developper's choice, but they do what they can, and i think they do their best to give the user the best piece of software possible in spite of the constraints that software developement involve.

And when i look at the price of Reason, 349€ and i compare the content with others DAW products, i though that the ratio price/(quality+quantity) is really really decent.

So here it is, i'm leaving, hope you the best, watch out for the cables knots ;), maybe, like say the big strange guy "i'll be back".

Peace !

P.S : I have seen some people that don't see the difference between Refills and Rack Extension, maybe you can eventually communicate on Refills, like a video, wich clearly explains that Refills is soundbank and presets bank files, and Rack Extension, rackable plugins.

And your point is? You felt the need to write this because.....? Why be so rude?

It seems like if someone writes that they decide on anything other than being hive minded for propellerheads recent directions, then they get rude replies.

I also quit using Reason recently (using Logic for now) but I still frequent the forums to keep in touch with what’s going on and to see if any new updates on performance and work flow. No need to bag on the guy for writing his disappointment and decisions. Jeez

Good luck on your endeavors.
Reason and Ableton are my go-to daws for making beats and noises and rewire works like a charm for those.
I wouldn't be surprised if propellerhead became apart of live one day.

It's only natural that we want to explore different avenues after a while. Many guitarists have a collection of guitars, keyboard players may have a collection of different keyboard, and even producers have different pieces of hardware... so no need to make yourself feel guilty or to
restrict yourself to a single piece of software. There are no rules - you can use as many programs as you want.
People come and go, you may find yourself switching to another DAW after a while and then another, and might even find yourself coming back to Reason as the years go by.

Nothing to apologise about really. You got Komplete and Cubase, it was exactly what you needed and you don't have a need for Reason.

And congrats on graduating from H20 ;)

Funny how people get so butthurt over topics like this. They exist in every DAW forum. This wasn't trolling. Someone decided they wanted to switch from apples to eating oranges. Cubase offers a lot for those working in scoring and expression maps. I thought about going up the Cubase chain but I'm not a fan of dongled programs. Not a fan of charging for updates either.

I've been a Reason user since 4 and a Sonar user since 7. I bought them both about the same time but I got to grips with Reason really quickly while I struggled with Sonar. After applying myself with Sonar when version X1 came out I found it wasn't so hard to use after all...........just different to what I'd become used to in Reason. So over the past few years, Sonar (now on Platinum) has become my main DAW. I still use Reason but tend to only as song starters. Most of my stuff gets done in SPlat. Does that make me bad too?

I wish the OP all the best. These days, music creation software offers a virtual banquet; you can pick and choose among the proffered dishes in a constant environment of discovery, delight, and surprise. If you're even half serious, you have to lay out the cash/credit though, and that can be daunting, so eventually we come down to a couple choices, and stick with them.

Like Soft Enerji, above, Reason and Sonar Platinum are my main DAWs. If it turns out that something else is better for me (no harm in downloading a trial) and I can afford it, I'll take it into consideration. Ultimately, we're dealing with businesses. Being a loyal customer only makes sense if you're getting the right bang for your buck; you don't actually owe them anything. That sounds harsher than I mean it and I have the greatest respect for the work all the devs, etc., put into the stuff we so enjoy working with.

If the OP finds it's time to move on, then good luck to him!

Tbh, it doesn't matter what daw you use. Find what you enjoy and what gives you what you need.
Whether it be max for live, Reason's sdk, notation software etc there's something out there to use for that.

I've been gone a minute I see a few people had something to say about my post. People who know me can attest I'm no fanboy,I just don't see the point of telling us you moved on. Nobody gives a sh!t. If it was a regular users who's very liked maybe. It certainly doesn't need to be on in this forum, take that sh!t to the kitchen. I'm surprised the mods didn't move it. Who wants to come here to learn or talk about Reason and see this sh!t.
