While this is unlikely to affect general users there is a bug in Skylake and Kaby lake hyperthreading CPUs (if you have a computer sold in the last two years) which can cause data loss or corruption. Fixed via bios update for windows users. For users with commercial or critical applications the recommendation is to turn HT off.
