Watching DARK. It is so critically acclaimed and highly rated, and I am up to episode 5 now and I am still bored to tears. I can only hope things improve in Season 2 or towards the end of season 1.
Sounds like my experience with Strangers Things S2 and S3. S4 was pretty awesome though.
I enjoyed ST a lot more than DARK.

I have 3.5 episodes to go and it did get better, but it's also incredibly overrated. There's been some moments. I will never watch it again though.

Dark is complex - tried to get into season 2 after a break, and have forgotten too much from season 1. It’s like three stories in one. But the premiss is super cool, I need to try to get back into it again.

In a related note, congrats on returning to see your thread has grown as long (or longer) than any other thread on this forum!

I really liked Dark, slow burning timey wimey weirdness is right up my alley. Plus it has that great Fever Ray song which was apparently recorded in Reason! But it's not for everyone for sure. Its like asking a guns & roses fan to listen to selected ambient works 2. Neither of them are objectively bad, just incompatible aesthetics.

It's finished, and it all made perfect sense and came full circle.

I found the *spoilers ahead* introduction of a second world in the 3rd season to be a bit silly because it didn't allow time for enough exploration of world 1 post apocalypse.

But it all made sense as you know in the finale, what the true origin was and how the extra 2 worlds were created.

The soundtrack was fantastic. I can't argue there.

It ended the only way it could, they couldn't help themselves with that tiny little last line of leaving an opening, but, that's how shows are done.

I'm onto the 3 body problem and I guessed it in episode 1 but I still am really enjoying it so far, about a 7/10

Worth a watch if you're into Sci-Fi, and is only 8 episodes so can be gotten through reasonably quickly in spare time. I am kind of glad the days of 23 episode seasons are all but gone.

BTW Shogun is meant to be absolutely amazing, that will be next for me, even though the subject matter doesn't interest me as I am a sci-fi and fantasy nut, I like the actors in it and can't ignore the praise.

I really enjoyed 3 body problem, partly because for the simple reason one of the leads is from New Zealand. I dunno, when you're from a small country there's always something quite exciting about seeing an overseas show when someone has the same accent as you. Eg Gunny from the Expanse who is basically like the girls I went to high school with, and the story arc where she goes to Earth and runs off to see the ocean really struck a chord with me. Its hard to explain if you're not from here but whoever wrote it really knew what they're talking about.

Atm I'm rewatching Fringe. Its a bit grisly for my taste but so clever and extremely well acted. Anna Torv, man she's an under rated actress. She's in a great Australian spy drama called Secret City that i so really liked.

Love Anna, she is indeed underrated. I only saw the first season of Fringe, and never followed it up after, I'll keep it in mind.

Yes initially I thought 3BP was going to focus on Auggie's character but it's good that Jess Hong ended up being the main protagonist.

Wow, half way through Fallout.
I have never played the games but now I want to.

It's very liberal with guts and gore, a bit gross IMO, but the show is very compelling in the sense you just have to know what's coming next.
Recommended.

Just rewatched Koyannisqatsi. Normally its translated to 'life out of balance' but it actually means '99% of what you watch is shit compared to this'. No really, its an incredible piece of art, you'll never see things quite the same again after you've seen it. Fantastic soundtrack too.

On Halo now.
I do not understand the hate.
I mean Pablo as Master Chief is perfect (just as he was the perfect leprechaun god in American Gods).
If anything, the Kwan character is annoying, so maybe that's what put people off, but as a whole, I am really enjoying it and give it an 8/10. I am only up to episode 3, so maybe it gets worse or something, I dunno. But the first episode was a 9/10 for me and others don't seem to agree.

Are you enjoying Silo? I loved it and it kept me guessing till the end what the real outdoor situation was, and let's just say, I got it completely wrong hehe.

HALO was indeed average, Season 2 was better but after all that I didn't really enjoy it all that much, it just wasn't cogent, was all over the place.
I enjoyed the first 2 episodes but then it all went downhill besides some bright spots in S2.

Anyway, now onto Red Eye with the handsome Richard Armitage. It seems to be a decent whodunnit thriller.

Saying one show is > than the other is if both shows were to be cancelled after let's say one season, which one is still fun to watch again, and again. Fallout was fun to watch, but if I learn season 2 is dead I would not care. Not so much for Silo.

Peripheral season 2 on Amazon: how to use a strike to cut a project already set for a second season.
Stargate SGU: how you end a cancelled tv show the best you can while respecting the audience's investment.

But if you are aware that you are wasting your time but having lots of fun doing it the tv show "From" is a winner. It's an infinite collection of J.J. Abrams’ “Mystery Boxes” collapsing within each other, and out of each other, crossing multiple plans of nonsensical existence. From the producers of Lost, Jack Bender and Jeff Pinkner :P

Peripheral being cancelled was a blow for me as I loved it a lot. I am a huge fan of FROM and have been going a bit nuts waiting for season 3 to drop.
****spoilers for those who haven't seen it follow****

I think it's dark Fae but we will see. Definitely magic involved IMO, they are not dead and there is no government experiment.

Not really sure how they will move forward from that ending. Although it seems most if all were in a moving vehicle [Airplane_Lost] before ending up in that town [Island_Lost]?

My take: they are all between life and death after a vehicle crash. No one is telling or seeing the truth because this perception is a lie and does not matter. The medication you take looks like danger from leaving the nightmare, like a bee sting instead of a syringe. When you die in the town you wake up from your coma in the hospital.

I am sure I am wrong but this is the kind of fun missing from the great looking but superficial Fallout. In Fallout there is this bizarre time mmm distortion. People can walk miles faster that those flying machines, yet everything seems to be very close to each other, from extreme deserted places to very humid flooded areas. "Zombies" are almost immortals, but they still need to eat and drink. Losing a finger is no big deal either. A shockwave from a huge nuke a few miles away can barely break sliding windows, giving you plenty of time escaping the hell that follows on horseback... "Yee haw!".
And now that I think deeper about it, good guys or bad guys. They are all evil and dumb.

I am rooting for the ghoul, the most honest well defined character with a clear purpose

I'll just say

"faraway trees"
the statue in the town centre - fae
the "talismans"
The way they creatures simply look.

Purgatory/coma/between life and death HAS been done to death, and I am really certain that's not what is happening in FROM.

But that's good, keep on that, so you can be surprised when you find out it's all real and dark fae have created it, using magic.

My chat group and I are so sure about this, BUT, heck, we'd be happy to be proven wrong also, as then it's a better surprise!

But I honestly believe the chances of it being an "inbetween" scenario are nil. We'll see though, as long as it doesn't get cancelled before a resolution happens! Shows like this terrify me in another way - that we'll watch and get left on a cliffhanger.
