hm...wondering if this is built on FPGA, since it's customizable hardware?

I didn't figure it'd be an FPGA, most likely just a 32-bit CPU of some sort. Took a little searching, but found this:

Hardware Facts
  • ARM Cortex-M3 Processor, running at 72MHz
  • 32kb on-chip flash memory
  • 8kb SRAM
  • 20 kHz audio sampling rate
  • 10 bit audio sampling accuracy
