Hi Giles
I always asked myself, if you know your alias is German for "blessed" or "blissful" and that there is also a German artist with that name?

Maybe this has been asked already in the PUF days. Love the song btw!
I had the pleasure talking to Gary Bromham twice after both Producers Conferences we had here in Berlin, and he considered that Selig a friend, also mentioned his studio is basically around the corner.
Does Selig know Selig?
I have learned the meaning of Selig, but didn't realize there was a band by that name. Selig is simply "Giles" spelled backwards. Back when I was quite young everyone in our family was learning how to spell their name backwards for fun. I never for the backwards version of my name and have been using it in different ways (like my old publishing company name Selig Songs) for about 30 years now!IchMensch wrote:Hi Giles

Thanks for the heads up on the band - very interesting sound! And Gary is a class act all the way - hope to meet him in person myself one day.

Gary is a nice guy. His MMM feature was one of my favorites. Both times in real, he was kind enough to answer most of my annoying questions after the actual conference. Even now, I rewatch his, yours and the Mocean Worker feature at least 2-3 times a year! (Ryan, if you're reading this... YES! WE WANT MMM 2! )
Nice to know about the backwards thing. Happy accident I say. My nick in most IRC chats is "tibah", habit spelled backwards. I had a project named "matter of habit" when I started out making music and some friends started to reverse it.

I've always pronounced it "sell-lig", but have heard "see-lig". If I wasn't in the US I'm sure I'd hear the ones you've mentioned more often. But many don't even pronounce Giles correctly (with a soft G), so I'm quite used to mis-pronunciations of my name(s)!normen wrote:While we're at it, I'm never quite sure how to pronounce your "nickname". Is is like "Sellitch" or "Sea-lick" or somehow even different?

Well, if it's really meant to be Giles backwards, then it should be pronounced like thisnormen wrote:While we're at it, I'm never quite sure how to pronounce your "nickname". Is is like "Sellitch" or "Sea-lick" or somehow even different?

...and just because German music is mentioned in this thread, I feel the need to ask if people ever listened to Stahlnetz? I don't hear them much on radio.(grew up with that music)
