This is the first time I've used my PC to get here and McAfee wasn't that keen about it (a yellow/amber warning rather than red):

"This link is suspicious. We tested it and found potential security risks. Be careful."

I carefully ignored the warning.

Grum.

I also saw the yellow warning. This site is data-mining for personal details, so when our birthdays, join date anniversary and other significant milestones are reached, we all get a free RE. Who cares about privacy, when we get free stuff six times a year.

I can't say I was ever a fan of McAfee.  I use Microsoft Security Essentials.  I hope that covers me.

Well still maybe somebody should investigate what causes this, I heard a similar report from somebody else as well already.

i did some back checks on different scripts used on this forum. And there are some tracking scripts that make Mcafee suspicious:
cdn.viglink.com
cc.chango.com/static/o.js

I just did a quick search on how these things work, but all I am reading is that they are to collect data.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. Since it would be similar if mcafee would find ga.js "weird". Where ga.js is Google Analytics ,which does a similar thing: collecting data.

I did see something about him and guns a while back. I believe he has nothing to do with the software anymore - in fact I'm sure I saw a pee-taking (possibly) music video he made about trying to remove McAfee from computers.

I make no bones about my age - I'm an old(ish) fart but Mrs.Grumbleweed keeps me young.....(ish).

The 'bath salts' reference in that video is a nod to the now-publicised thread he started at bluelight (a harm minimization site) about him having a home lab set up and manufacturing synthetic hallucinogens. From memory, he broke some new ground with his chemistry.
