Wanted to start a thread to talk about the music we're currently enjoying.
I'll start by sharing a song from an album that's quickly become one of my all time favorites. I listen to it constantly and it just doesn't get old. If you're into chill electronic ambient kinda stuff and haven't checked out Holy Other...you should. His stuff is incredible.

I've been rediscovering the Jeff Wayne's War of The Worlds recently... Never knew that there is a German version of it too...
(Well, the dialogue is German...)

I'm starting the recording of a new album with my band and we're testing new gear and tones.
I'm listening this on various setups

unfortunately , lately i've been mostly listening to the news... :frown:
After the terrorist attack in Paris, now in Belgium as well there are threats from Jihadi extremists. a few days ago an attack was luckely preserved by the Police but i don't think that will be the end to it all.
After years seein' things on TV & beein' a bit relieved it's far from my place it feels real scary when danger suddenly pops up in your back yard....
i know i should think positive, but havin' 2 kids , & knowing what those terrorists are capable of, it's hard to not feel freightened...
i really hope 2015 will be a year of big changes in this world with more room for peace & solidarity, alltough i fear the worst...
sorry for goin' OT, but i had to get this off my chest, i hereby post a hopefull tune to compensate

Been enjoying the Mars Volta albums this weekend, of which I hadn't played for a couple of years. They are such an odd band.

Also been loving listening to a band called Warpaint, which I only stumbled across a few weeks ago, and played the following gig to a friend of mine earlier. Nice mellow prog-rock groove to their sound.

Wow. That sounds early, but I don't recognize it, and I am very familiar with every Maiden album from the first one up to Powerslave. Is that a single B side ?normen wrote:This thread needs a bit of rock'n'roll

There's a Jethro Tull cover from the band floating around too.

Its from 1983, it was a B-Side of the Flight of Icarus single, yes. They played this song live with Di'Anno since the late 70s already. Theres collections of the B-sides floating around the market, they covered all kinds of bands from Tull to The Who. Montrose seems to be an early influence on Maiden.Namahs Amrak wrote:Wow. Gotcha. Should have probably looked at the video artwork
Lately I have been having a bit of a dig back into music I used to enjoy, but albums gather dust (so to speak) when there's new stuff to listen to, but last month I pulled out the maiden collection. I have to say that the first two albums (with Paul Dianno) really blew me away. The rawness of the bands sound, and the energy is unlike their later material with Dicko, which I always felt the sound and structure became increasingly pompous and orchestrated. Sure there were still some good albums, but I actually lost interest after Somewhere in Time was released.

Been studying this one lately. Don't believe the hype, Public Enemy, 1988.

I normally start the year by looking at the various 'best albums' lists that are floating around for albums from the previous year. One album that has particularly caught my attention recently is 'Preternaturals' by Grumbling Fur.

Currently listening to the album that this song appears on. It's sort of prog rock jazz fusion... or something.
