I have to admit, I've been looking at the current tests with the new Intel CPU's and the Ryzen 7's for example, and I'm leaning toward AMD for the first time in my life. Intel only seems to have a very small advantage in games, but in anything else the Ryzens beat Intel by 20 to 30%. Crazy.

Gonna get a B550 board with a Ryzen 5 3600 so I can drop in a 4000 series at the end of the year. I'm quite excited.

Good call! The hardest thing could be to find a cool looking PC case :D

May i ask a question here ?

What do you think will apples change mean for AMD ? Intel is clearly on a ride to the valley - not the silicon one ;-)

I mean they are just got "back on track" competing against intel and now it seems the "industry is changing" direction.
Or doesnt it matter for AMD at all ? or something between ?

Really curious how the "landscape" will look 5 years from now.

It is a good thing Intel is forced to produce better and cheaper products.
You don't have to like or invest in AMD's stocks to understand that competition is good for everybody. It's good for the 99% who loves making music on a PC, but can't afford expensive systems.

This thread is about Intel Vs AMD Vs ARM.
Having a great imagination is good and people can invent whatever they want in their head. This thread is about CPU's. That's all really.

No need to be sorry

My reply to you was to show what I was thinking a while back. (INTEL VS AMD) VS ARM.

5 years from now people using Intel or AMD cpus will wonder why their PC laptops are not as sexy, as slim, with batteries lasting days, not hours, like the sexy, impossibly magically slim Macbooks. (One of) the main hurdle for Apple could be: how deep their keyboard will have to travel, until it gets too uncountable to type on (too magically slim).

A lot of what we will see on our screens will be faked in real time (no need for big powerful graphic cards locally), thanks to machine learning + always connected to the cloud.

Intel/AMD/NVIDIA will fight off the giant servers market essentially.

ARM will be the future for most people.

Always IMHO

My sorry was for the "kitchen sentence" of yours..... i understand that i should have to go to another "room of the kitchen" to talk about that! :puf_wink:

I think you are wrong about what you are describe! Why ? Because i also do think what you wrote ......

.... and as we all know - Everything turns out differently than we think !

Of course I am wrong, in my humble opinion

Order placed

AMD Ryzen 5 3600 processor
Asus ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING
Corsair DDR4 Vengeance RGB Pro 2x16GB 3200

First AMD I'm building. Pretty confident that I'll be happy with it, until the next Ryzen comes out and I can drop one right in.

Well I'm not a fanboy but AMD has made some shitty products back in the day. So I was just waiting for Comet lake to come out, and that was a huge disappointment, so I started researching the Ryzens a bit (and also built one for a kid who wanted an upgrade for his games, and was pleasantly surprised by the results) and well, there really is no other sane option. Unless you are a fanboy, I guess. :D

Eventually AMD will get too comfortable. Intel will fight back. The consumer will make the right decision again. It may not even be Intel nor AMD next time.

Yeah could be, everyone falls asleep at the wheel at some point. What matters is how quick you wake up. And well, Linus Torvalds has gone down that road as well, right? ;)

Sleeping at the wheel is a feature, part of Human Nature. Look back 5000 years.
