Precocious youngster you were.
I can't remember the order but the first three records were Devo, "Whip it", B-52s, "Rock Lobster", and M, "Pop Music". I still have them all in their 7" Vinyl glory!

The first album I ever bought was Beatles "Magical Mystery Tour". It was in 1980 after John Lennon was shot. TV was full with documentaries about the Beatles, and the song I liked most was "Strawberry Fields Forever" – cause of the Mellotron
.

I don't know if that counts: when the
iTunes-Store started in Germany, the first music I bought was "ABBA: The Definitive Collection"
!

The first album I bought (when I was about 10 years old) was the KISS debut album, self titled "KISS", after my parents bought me a stereo record player with the Dynasty album. The record player was one of those small plastic things with 2 small plastic speakers that doubled as cover for the player. I played those records forever and ever, I still have them and sometimes I still play them. A year later or so I bought the KISS Alive II album (did you guess that I'm a KISS fan?) It got scratched, and the first song on that album, Detroit rock City, had a little hickup in there because of the scratch. To this day, it doesn't sound quite as good when the hickup isn't there.
Nothing to lose was my favorite track on the KISS debut album. Back then, I had no idea what it actually was about.

as a little kid my dad would take me shopping with him to buy vinyl, and I would pick out a 45/single, my first full length album was Kiss - Destroyer when I was 6 years old. I bought it at the garage sale next door cuz of the freaky comic book type cover, and was hooked from the first note! I haven't heard them in years, but I hold those early memories of discovering new music dear to my heart

I bought some bullshit R&B album cuz it was like a dollar and I didn't know any better. I'm talking bad 90s R&B, can't even remember the group, I'll listen to funk soul r&b all day.
First album I remember buying that I liked was Redman Docs da Name 2000. Must've been 10 or 11. I'd been listening to rap since i was younger but didn't have any pocket change until then (started running a paper route.) But ya at 29 I'm pretty much as young as I could be to catch any golden era hip-hop. I listen to all types of rap, from boom bap to trap and like most varieties but that 90s stuff before sampling became a minefield of lawsuits and such was the best.
