Still a blinder of a track after all these years
What have you been listening to?
Unfortunately, I've been forced to listen to this all evening. Neighbors decided to throw a party that blocks off the entire street with a stage/speakers pointed right at my house. Fun times!
Oh, "fun" times... I suppose ANC headphones would come in handy for this. What genre is this? Drunken traditional cheesy soft rock?
Having a little nostalgia sesh with Black Boned Angel. If you're into crushing droning doom metal, it's hard to go past these guys
Campbell is the man. I interviewed him a few years ago and he said that he'd retired Black Boned Angel because the music was too sad and it was bumming him out. Which is weird, because I generally find BBA quite relaxing/blissful. I've seen him a couple of times in Sydney, awesome on both occasions but one I missed was a Tokyo gig with him, Keiji Haino and Merzbow. Had tickets and then got sick
Looking back, the early 00s seem like a golden era for heavy drone. I love this one too, another Kiwi I think

I was trying to remember the name of this album to say you should check it out if you didn't already know it, it's really good, huh. Lost my copy a long time ago, which is a shame as it's fucking great.dvdrtldg wrote: ↑07 Jun 2023Campbell is the man. Yeah, the 2000s were a great time for that kind of thing here. I was actually around that scene back then when I lived in Dunedin. You might like Eye as well, if you haven't come across them - really beautiful/ferocious drone noise. Peter Stapleton was their drummer, he was an amazing musician. This is their bandcamp - https://eyenz.bandcamp.com/. I nearly ended up playing with them but it didn't work out, which I was quite sad about - I've done music with all of them at one point or another, and Jon, who did Eurorack stuff with them, was in Rory Storm & the Invaders with me.
If you wanna hear something more on the metal side you might like my friend Brendan's music - https://grvdggr.bandcamp.com/. He's the first to say he can be a bit uneven but his good stuff is really special.
But yeah, NZ really does have an amazing experimental music scene, if you can get past the bloated but still spectacular corpse of the Dead C. Omit, Sandoz Lab Technicians, Surface of the Earth, K Group, Mott, Crone.... I don't really make that kind of thing much myself these days but every so often I go back to it and think, faaark I'm really lucky I got to be around it.
oh, and I should say I've only met Campbell once, about ten years ago. I was walking on the beach outside my old house with my ex-partner, and he was chilling with his partner, and he was like ah, it's you! and I was like, yeah, it's you! and that was it. and to anyone else it was just two dudes with beards.

Sepultura - Morbid Visions (1986)
The only black metal record that I am listening to... Just because it's Sepultura.

Nice.
I’ve seen that in Thailand. Karaoke nights from hell.
Was renting a place where the neighbours kicked off. I got so fed up I went for a walk at like 4am down by the klong. Pretty sure that’s where and when I got malaria too.

Hotter n hell here in Andalucía.
This is the only thing for it. Like diving into cool clear water or drinking a freezing glass of beer.

A friend of mine told me about this website. It's great! You can click on the map and click on the decade and listen to music that was popular in the selected country during the selected decade.

I discovered this probably 2 months ago. I never heard of the band before and the song is a recent release.
Music lover/explorer extraordinaire, guitar player fair, and still have my hair at 60.
Beautifully unexcited and thus very relaxing! And the song avoids too many high frequencies! Inspiring filter work!
