I'm sure you have a bunch of song ideas, 8-bar loops, maybe even two parts of a song. The question is, are they worth continuing?
Post your unfinished tracks/song ideas here to get peoples opinions. Maybe they can offer a fresh ear and tell you what material is worth working on.
Here is a little collection of some song ideas I have gathered. It's 8 "work in progress" bits. Let me know what you think.

hello,
i really like track 5 that starts with the 'wind chimes' and has that lo fi reggae feel
i really like track 8 (the last one) for the same reason
i think it would be super groovy to combine those 2 tracks and make like a 30 minute ambient track
the bass feels good, too
well done
(i'm not really into d&b lately)
cheers,
j

1. song idea: start is just amazing. Then it becomes a bit we-all-heard-it-before. Then it became very cool. Very cool. I think so. This is what? - somehow Goa Trance? A bit DnB maybe? ... I think it is worth making a song out of it. Just do it right, hehe, ofcourse.
2. Very interesting.
3. Huh. This is just amazing if you aks me. Really. It reminds me of pagan black metal since I am into metal like 25 years now.
4. This is just personal subjective oppinion: I don't like this. I am more into brutal low pitched death metal. This is just too industrial. But end is amazing! Do on that last part!
5. I don't like it. Sorry. This stoned stuff just don't get me.
6. Interesting DnB. This would also became a good song. The second part (after first) is maybe too much conveniant, ordinary - nothing special.
7. Sorry, again: Ehm too old. This 80-90's synth scene also don't get me. But bass line makes it somehow interesting. I would personally grow this your upcoming song around that bass line. It could be promising song.
8. This loop is somehow lost in translation, hehe. I don't know how to say it different. I don't know. To ordinary.
Overally very good. Very, very good.
OK, this would be all from me.
Thumbs up!

OK. Here is my latest song I am working on it. I got inspired by this forum thread: Music self-challenge: To make a 15 min song.
So it is a long song - 11+ minutes. I would somehow need an opinion from you guys/girls if it is composed OK. Music developing in the track is oriented around 32 bars at tempo 120 BPS.
It is mid-tempo song, a bit dark, melanholic, depressive, sad but still strong in message. This strong part of song is because song has some epic and like-saw synths like in electronic trance music.
This song is by genre and style (at least I think so) somehow dark acid trance lacking typical acid sounds. The drum line makes this song acid trance and the side feeling of song also. It is somehow acid.
OK. Here is this song. And be straight, hones. I won't be offended and won't resent. Just say what you think. I know many people don't find interesting listening to long songs.

OP, one more thing - since you made one loop inside in metal/industrial vein: maybe you could listen to three of my songs I created with Reason 10 which contains metal growls and satanic devilish vocals and are quite brutal electronic songs. Maybe you will find them interesting for yourself. Here they are:
I am very proud of these three tracks (especialy of first two) since I found them very unique in the electronic genre.
And please sorry for spamming. I hope you all won't mind.

Cool tracks with interesting ideas. My main problem overall is that many of the tracks are quite muddy in the bass/low mid frequencies. Sometimes it gets hard to really hear what's going on in all the instruments. I understand you're going for a darker tone but when there are a lot of instruments playing around in that area one has to make be careful with what instruments really need all that low end.Rising Night Wave wrote: ↑15 Dec 2019OK. 2 is cool, could be very interesting with a breakbeat as well,TritoneAddiction wrote: ↑15 Dec 2019I'm sure you have a bunch of song ideas, 8-bar loops, maybe even two parts of a song. The question is, are they worth continuing?

3, 8 sound like breakdown/ transition parts or even intros, I like 8 for sure
5 cool texture at beginning and nice drum fill to start, begging for some classic chucks and maybe some other dubbed out elements, why not?
6 is great with the high energy scape you've created. I don't love the lead basic melodic progression you've got so far tho tbh, maybe as a bass line with diff synth sound.
Dope stuff as always. I think for some of these, like 1 or 7, you've gotta take out an element to make room for something different if it's not inspiring you.
Imho all of those can work out to become good tracks.TritoneAddiction wrote: ↑15 Dec 2019I'm sure you have a bunch of song ideas, 8-bar loops, maybe even two parts of a song. The question is, are they worth continuing?

1.) The first one is almost done: just add a few vocal samples to give it some kind of message and extend it to a complete track with some risers and sweeps.
2.) some nice eerie atmosphere, could use a rather complex break beat pattern to evolve from there.
3.) This bit might work as a breakdown section (possibly for the 2nd one).
4.) This bit is screaming for a double bass drum and some screaming metal head lead singer
5.) gives me a soundtrack kind of vibe.
6.) This bit could be the start of a decent HDM track.
7.) The first part could be used as a breakdown section for the HDM track of 6. The 2nd plucky part could be made into some 80s synpop track.
8.) also gives me a soundtrack kind of vibe.

In last three to four days I downloaded some free content from web sites for my Baby Reason 10. Basically most ReFills and WAV samples.
So today I decided to walk through all those WAV samples and put them into favorite map.
Then I created this track:
Composing took me around four hours I think, including previous browsing through downloaded content and making some adjustments in synths.
I used these racks:
- KONG Drum Designer,
- MONOTONE Bass Synthesizer,
- GRAIN Sample Manipulator and
- NN-19 Digital Sampler
Tell me, if it is worth finishing it? It is totally unmixed and unmastered after all and it lacks some proper vocal words. It even has put fader levels to their defaults.
By genre it is something between drum and bass/jungle and tech trance. LOL about that combination. I never heard before something like that. For me it is interesting. But hey, I just do not know the whole electronic genre scene.

Even if only you think that it has potential and it gives you new sonic ground to explore, it is worth finishing imho. I would consider it to be a (deep/dark/industrial) tech house track. And you're lucky as this genre does not need proper vocals (sometimes vocal chops are used at the end of a 16 beat bar).Rising Night Wave wrote: ↑21 Dec 2019Tell me, if it is worth finishing it? Hey jam-s. Thanks for words. I appreciate it. Well, you know, if I am honest and to be right, I am satisfied with this track but somehow I wanted to ask, if it is good enough in wein what do you think. - Yours opinion.
Later I added one WAV sample for vocals. It finished very very interesting and cool. I will post it, I hope so, tomorrow meaning today since it is 01:15 - Sunday.
Okay. I hope it will be all right with the track when I will finish my fading, stereo imaging, mixing and finally mastering.

I updated file for this song on my Soundcloud profile.
Now the song has some vocals. One is WAV sampled for female vocal line other is my vocal for male vocal line under some effects so it sounds more devilish and satanic.
For recording my vocals I used my microphone:
- M-Audio Uber Mic.
Sorry: first Soundcloud link does not work now. Here is new link:
And everything stays the same for stereo images, fadings, mixing and mastering - everything on default.
