Quote terrible hit lyrics (Learn from others' mistakes)
"I'm serious as cancer, when I say rhythm is a dancer."
From Snap! - Rhythm is a Dancer, by black rapper, in the typical tough-guy gangster voice. If it's not obvious, the problem is, that it's the type of lyrics, where hopefully it's not about lack of creativity of the lyricist, but that they are pulled back with a leash, due to it being pop music, and strict limitations in the content. What's allowed, and what's not. It's just too pretentious sounding, too forced. Gotta ask yourself, would you go to your friends and say, "Hey fellaz'! Ya'all serious as cancer when ya say rhythm is a dancer?!" ~ it's unlikely the answer will be "Hell yea!". More like lots of face palms, cringe and a bunch of GTFO responses.
Gotta watch not to get too comfy when writing lyrics. Sometimes you become beyond forgiving with yourself. Don't forget some reality check.
"Who do you think you are, Joe Stalin?!"
...
Pet Shop Boys - West End Girls
...
Alright, if the lyrics were clever and creative, but one runs out of creativity, then just let it be. Less can be more than adding additional... lessening content. I mean, soft white gay guy tries going gangster? It's the effect of Bill Gates Goes Wild. It can't end well.
This is what I can think of right away. Got any others?

Huh, such fuss sounds more like social justice warriors made-up whining, so people pay attention to them.
No, this is about that... it's such a ... line. xD
In a rap, you'd expect... everything else. At least in this type, where the performer has/uses that typical tone of a different style, culture and genre.
In my opinion, it's more likely, he would have preferred to say at least "I'm serious as f***". xD
See the difference? With that effort one can write:
" I'm serious as Gordon Ramsay when cooking ingredients aren't fresh! "
or
" I'm serious as Bambi when Faline scared him into the water "

Mc Turbo B didn't think the song was that great and he had a problem with the lyric. He didn't think it would become a hit. How wrong he was.

That's true. I never really figured out why it was such a hit because I think it's quite a weak song.

It has an interesting sound to it, and had quite a well done music video. I guess those pushed it, too.
Pretty good song actually. Very catchy and relevant in that particular time.

I gotta feeling that tonight's gonna be a good night
That tonight's gonna be a good night
That tonight's gonna be a good, good night
A feeling that tonight's gonna be a good night
That tonight's gonna be a good night
That tonight's gonna be a good, good night
A feeling, woohoo, that tonight's gonna be a good night
That tonight's gonna be a good night
That tonight's gonna be a good, good night
A feeling, woohoo, that tonight's gonna be a good night
That tonight's gonna be a good night
That tonight's gonna be a good, good night
Tonight's the night, let's live it up
I got my money, let's spend it up
Go out and smash it like oh my God
Jump off that sofa, let's get, get off
I know that we'll have a ball
If we get down and go out and just lose it all
I feel…
That tonight's gonna be a good night
That tonight's gonna be a good, good night
A feeling that tonight's gonna be a good night

This might be because that line is not a part of the lyrics.

"hey girl, aww girl, hey girl I wanna rock your world...." soon followed by, "... Paradise is very nice." - LL Cool J on 'Paradise'
Given his delivery on the rest of the track, this must have been intentionally cheesy.

Yes, that's a really good example. One should never-ever waste words in favor of rhyming.Troublemecca wrote: ↑25 Oct 2018"hey girl, aww girl, hey girl I wanna rock your world...." soon followed by, "... Paradise is very nice." - LL Cool J on 'Paradise'

Fred, come to bed
Cause my Max had sex with his sexy ex
Oh Fred, come to bed,
Baby I will let your dreams come wet
Oh Fred, come to bed
Baby you will get a love you never had
So Fred, come to bed
Oh my fantasy will drive me mad
Oh Fred...
Well I'm Max, I'm Max, baby don't be blue
Don't be worry, don't be sorry I come back to you
Just one more night with poor old ex
She's only lonely, and we don't have sex
I'm Max, Max, Max
Baby please stay cool and just relax
I'll soon be back, but if you feel sad
Just go and talk to my friend Fred
I'm Max, I'm Max and I trust in Fred
Babe, he's the best friend I've ever had
It's Fred, it's Fred, Baby just call Fred
And anything you ever wanted you will get
Call Fred, Fred, Fred
And you will find it's not so bad
It's just one night babe you'll get through
Tomorrow I'll be back with you
Oh Fred
Now come to bed
Oh my Max had sex
With his ex last night
Cause he loves her ass and tits
So I'm tellin' you Fred
Come into my bed
If you don't I will call up Fritz
Oh Fred... Come to bed

It's one of them isn't it, wouldn't bother me but some people who have had cancer and survived or had a loved one die from it might disagree.
