Very good friend of mine who introduced me to music production and hooked me up with Reason few years ago just released an album in darkwave ( Reason and Cubase ), and I thought I'll shamelessly share it. Not sure how to correctly describe music style, it sort of reminds me NIN and maybe KMFDM, regardless, the quality is there so have a listen if you have time

Hi Mr River
Thanks for sharing this. There is a time when this would have come under the EBM banner (Electronic Body Music which KMFFM, Front 242 and Neon Judgement were). These days who knows. Maybe look at how And One are tagged as they are similar enough to share fans.
I bought a copy.

Good to hear someone still knows who KMFDM and Front 242 are . When ussr collapsed in eastern europe music of this style was so rare that nooone knew how to call it, the most popular term was gothic + 'any other style you find fitting'. Fun times looking back.
And One looks promising, I'll let him know.

It is sad how the generations who came to age post-1990 to obliterate the music that came before them. I don't think it happened quite like this before as even adults now seem completely unwilling to consider that music even exists before EDM, which is not only sad but disturbing as they have no depth to their sense of art, tradition, and belonging. Without at least Front 242 and Neon Judgement (KMFDM seemed to hit their straps later) so many of the things done in EDM today would not have happened as easily. EBM is the missing link between Disco (incl Hi-NRG) and House.
Will listen to the record today at work.

On today at work and liked the album.
I really the vocal sound and style. I also like that there isn't too much emphasis on trying to sound too formula EDM. Of course, I like that it reminds me a lot of late-EBM (before it became Rave music).
If you haven't already, look at targeting fans of And One, The Cruxshadows & The Frozen Autumn as there is some crossover.

You know It's interesting you mentioned that, just a few days ago I had the same conversation with my friend with regards to style and depth in art, particularly in music. As he trying to promote this album he went into various gothic groups on Facebook. You probably guessed where this is going... How an average group would consist of 20% of music and the rest if is soft porn in dark lingerie...Benedict wrote:It is sad how the generations who came to age post-1990 to obliterate the music that came before them. Not to dive deep into psychological aspect of it, but the current trend isn't quite about self-education or even simple curiosity / awareness.
