Re: Kitput remix contest!
Is there a preferred track length? Also, how far from the beaten path is advisable? In other words, when looking at the label on Beatport it's very much in the Deep/Prog House field (with some gems among the newer more melodic tracks, in fairness), but is there much point in me doing this as a harde...

Enlightenspeed plugins have hit the shop!!!
Hey folks, The debut offerings from Enlightenspeed (which were beta'd on here a while back), have now hit the PropShop. There are three different RE's available just now, and they are all Players. I was heavily involved during the beta period, and I happen to know that these are going to be bundled ...

Re: Quick UMPF question
Hi Is it impossible to remive a sample from a slot in UMPF, so that the slot is blank? I can change samples easily by dragging an dropping but once a sample is in a slot, I cant see anyway to clear it Cheers Graeme Nope, can't be done. Easiest thing to do is to just set the volume to 0. If you need...

Re: Do you think Liam Howlett owns the latest copy of Reason?
Maybe, maybe not. He always used Pro-Tools and Reason was one of his instruments, so if he is still using it I imagine that this would be how he was doing it.

Re: Drum Sequencer - Randomizing Repeats & Probability?
Another "clue" there is no true random values in software comes in the new Complex-1 noise module, which has a sync function. Noise is basically a random signal, so what is "sync"? The only way the noise module would be able to use a sync function was if there is some sort of pattern. And indeed th...

Re: Drum Sequencer - Randomizing Repeats & Probability?
If you guys don't mind - how does the C++ "rand()% x" function really work then? I like the idea of using the pointer address, I hadn't grasped that this was the intention the first time you mentioned it. Although not truly random (I get that it's always going to be an algorithm), what about just b...

Re: Drum Sequencer - Randomizing Repeats & Probability?
Another way to do it would be to have two free running LFO's with different shapes and freq's that sit inside the device but don't get exposed to the user. The seed range is then between the two amplitude points at any given time. :) You don't need two LFOs - one is just as complex in this example ...

Re: Drum Sequencer - Randomizing Repeats & Probability?
For example, with a CV input for seed, and a free run LFO such as Pulsar feeding that input, you could indeed get a fairly pure random result if needed - or alternatively get a more predictable result if needed. Better to have the choice IMO! Sent from some crappy device using Tapatalk Another way ...

Re: Drum Sequencer - Randomizing Repeats & Probability?
Software can not produce truly random numbers, ever. The best you can do is retrieve a seed value from an unpredictable hardware source, and then "stir" it with some math to try to make it very different from the starting number. But using the same starting seed will always produce the same sequenc...

Re: Front-end patch cables
Complex-1 was just released with cables on the front! https://forum.reasontalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=7510212 And it looks pretty cluttered to me with all those cables: https://shop.propellerheads.com/media/product/rae%3Ase.propellerheads.Complex/pictures/front-panel-cables_BBwR9dF_5cC5bls.png.100...

Re: Drum Sequencer - Randomizing Repeats & Probability?
It seems counter-intuitive that clicking "random" should result in the same exact pattern every time. To get a "random" pattern you haven't seen before, you have to click it more times than you ever have in the past. It actually changes a bit more intuitive if you click the main random, then a chan...

Re: Drum Sequencer - Randomizing Repeats & Probability?
Seems plausible that some sort of Euclidean function would be in play in order to obtain highly random but musically/rhythmically relevant results. Nope, those rhythms are not Euclidean. The most likely explanation is that the random number generator(s?) in Drum Sequencer is/are seeded with a const...

Re: Drum Sequencer - Randomizing Repeats & Probability?
Interesting thing about Drum Sequencer and randomness: If you open a new file, drag in an instrument, then drag Drum Sequencer onto it as normal, then add a second Drum Sequencer onto it (or even a second instrument in another channel), then set the dropdowns for both to "Random", then click the di...

Re: Drum Sequencer - Randomizing Repeats & Probability?
Having a think about this, both can be achieved with additional Player devices and a random LFO, although one of the required Players is not released yet, and will not be for another couple of weeks, maybe sooner but unlikely.

Re: Europa PolyCV
Hmmm, IIRC a synth does not need to accept PolyCV to function as intended with Autotheory. It's been a long time so I may be mistaken, but IIRC Autotheory uses a different "trick" in order to send chords through CV cables (it offsets the notes slightly in time, while PolyCV uses negative note value...

Re: Europa PolyCV
Just to confirm this. There may be an issue with your set-up or a bug with Breakout Box, or perhaps even this is not the intention of what Breakout Box is meant to do, I don't have it and can't comment on this. BUT Europa DOES accept PolyCV, and works exactly as expected without any issues when tes...
