Re: Thinking of buying RoughRider RE, talk me out of it...
RR, OTOH, would be easy to replace with other devices IMO. I would like to see you take up the challenge :puf_wink: CompareCompressors.cmb.zip If you're feeling like it, load up this combinator and hit the "swap" button a few times while listening (I used drums, if that matters). I used Plugin Dr. ...

Re: talking about sick drum fill ins
Selig is that your home, as opposed to your meticulously set up studio? Plz allow a little room for us mortals jeez... It is my home studio. FWIW, this is the FIRST time in my 62 years to have my kit at home fully setup and ready to record. This has been my dream since my 20s, and only took 40 year...

Re: Thinking of buying RoughRider RE, talk me out of it...
As I said I can get close (but no sigar) with C1-L1 or RE-160. DCAM ChannelComp goes completely nuclear as well. If you have other suggestions, please share. …….. I think RoughRider is more exciting than others, for where it shines. The same goes for every other RE compressor I have. I'm not having...

Re: Thinking of buying RoughRider RE, talk me out of it...
It’s unique feature IMO is it’s extreme range of settings compared to most compressors. My only complaint is the LP filter on the entire signal path, dry signal included, with no way to bypass. It’s ‘sound’, other than the filter, can come from the extreme range of settings, otherwise there is no sp...

Re: Arturia Announcement Today April 9 6pm CEST/12 noon EST
It’s actually $1599 USD. Competitively priced with the cheaper versions of flagship keyboards. It's anywhere from $1599 to $2199 online, $1999 is what is quoted on the Arturia site - not sure which price to use so picked the one on the Arturia site (which is currently sold out fwiw)! Screen Shot 20...

Re: Arturia Announcement Today April 9 6pm CEST/12 noon EST
It's more like Nord Wave than Nord Stage and Nord Wave has never been hugely popular, probably because of the price. Maybe the street price of the Arturia one will get it closer to where I think it ought to be. Maybe they're planning an Astrolab 25 to hit a lower price bracket. All interesting stuf...

Pros: It's a synth. Most Arturia stuff is good. Cons: It's got a bad name. It costs $$$$. Did I mention the price? But, yes, Analog Lab in hardware form. Great idea. But that price. Re: reason 12 restarts my machine every half hour
You say "the machine" resets, not "Reason crashes the machine" - is this correct? Is Reason ever the only app running when this happens? You could also try to downgrade Reason to 10 on the machine giving you the problems – 'eliminate the variables' troubleshooting stating point. I don't know windows...

Re: Arturia Announcement Today April 9 6pm CEST/12 noon EST
I don’t know a lot about Maschine from NI, but isn’t that similar to Astrolab? Interesting thought about a flagship, since this is priced way lower than most flagship synths today there is room to add a bigger screen and more editing power and physical control of patches. I think the interface is f...

Re: (World) Melody Advice Needed
I remember being in high school band and learning the adage “if you can sing it, you can play it”. When we first learned a new piece, our directors would have us sing it through first, THEN play it. It worked, someone singing it connected the melodies (or rhythms for us percussionists) at some deepe...

Re: open source millitary percussion beats available?
Drumline was my life from middle school into college. My friends went on to march in Drum Corps but I preferred the studio life (no regrets there). That was a cool video. Thanks for sharing. I've got my suspicions that Giles still wears his drumline uniform every once in a while. Did you hack my we...

Re: Arturia Announcement Today April 9 6pm CEST/12 noon EST
I really thought RS would have done this with elk like they were showing off a few years ago. Native Instruments should’ve done this by now as well. As simple as this keyboard is, it’s genius! The stage intended keyboard market is pretty boring compared to what software can do and this is a step in...

Re: open source millitary percussion beats available?
Drumline for me was about the thrill of a large group in perfect (or close!) sync, the power of ‘many’ making the sound of ‘one’. I will admit I don’t watch drumline/drum corps videos myself, so it was more about the powerful experience for me than the actual music being presented. It actually taug...

Re: Would a mono cable splitter halve the volume?
I feel like I’ve been around a long time and seen just about everything there is to see in audio. But what the heck is “authentic/true dual mono analog recording”? Is there a “false dual mono”? Is there some historical reference being made here? I asked this on your other thread: why record the sam...

So they did what some of us wish reason did. Put all their instruments on a standalone hardware unit. Imagine having all your patches like this to play with your other hardware without the computer, and every new patch you create on reason being easily transferred to the hardware... Monster combina...

Ah, the fairly new, Japanese company (I thought that all this time) - now I see it's French, and founded in 1999. I live under a rock I guess. x D Their MIDI controllers seem interesting - finally a company that uses encoders. "Encoder" is such a generic term, what do you mean exactly? Which compan...

Re: Would a mono cable splitter halve the volume?
I know... so many questions... But yeah, since I wanted an authentic dual mono recording, I guess the best way would be to record from a hardware synth's mono out, into stereo. That's why I thought about, if I get a Behringer Neutron, then I'd connect a jack to its mono-out with a "Y" all-mono jack...

Re: 5 pin VS USB MIDI - Any difference?
I think there was an update to the device, and the newer edition, according to the manual, can handle DIN MIDI properly. Hold the presses, the MIDI input is actually on the front panel - odd choice (and why I missed it) especially since there appears to be plenty of room on the back panel for it. A...
