Re: (Transcendent 2000 track) - Bleak

Solid structure and progression, nice work! I saw this RE nicely discounted during the end of summer sale and thought about grabbing it until I remembered I want to put more use into the REs I already have. You can't rule out those simpler synths. Being too the point can be really effective in getti...

Re: (Ambient) Infinite

It sounds really huge and epic. What kind of unusual processes and REs did you use? Thanks Bloma. My idea of unusual might be common practice for others so maybe wasn't the best word choice to use  A few things I did here: 1. Took random factory sound bank samples from the Orkester refill, lik...

Re: WINNERS ANNOUNCED - Tonicmint FlowBrush Song Competition

Congrats to the winners! This had to be a tough one to judge. All of the entries were really good and so varied. We need more contests on here to hopefully get the music section more active. Thanks to Tonicmint for the RE and contest. It was a nice change of pace having something revolve around an e...

Re: Tracktion BioTek 2 for 24$

$24 is a steal. There's a lot to take in since the programming and modulating capabilities are seemingly endless. It's really easy to get lost breaking this down or creating your own patches. Every aspect of this sythn can be modulated and then some. I recently bought Waldorf Largo which quickly tur...

Re: POLL: Summer Sale 2022 - How much did you spend?

I'm in the $50-$99 range for this sale. I haven't bought any REs in a while. I picked up a few here after trialing a handful of REs. Bought: 1. Pattern Mutator - I wrote this player off in the past and eventually found a purpose. This is great for the times I have a melodic idea but struggling with ...

(Ambient) Infinite

This is a song I created for Tonicmint's Flowbrush song contest. This particular song was on the verge of never seeing light since I was really struggling with where, how and what I wanted to do with this song. It underwent a ton of changes and sidelined it numerous times with the hopes of abandonin...

I'm currently listening on a laptop and the mix for each song sounds solid. The overall dark vibe of this EP is awesome. Really nice work. I'd be all for hearing more like this.

Re: Tonicmint FlowBrush Song Competition

I was pretty sure I was going to miss the deadline for this contest and managed to pull through. As usual, my entry is a bit of an oddball. There's heavy use of Flowbrush in every crevasse that helped shape this massive soundscape. I really went out of my comfort zone when it came to Reason synths a...

I've noticed the drop in song challenges, too, which is unfortunate. Even with restrictions they were fun to participate in and hear how diverse the entries were. Hoping to see these pick up again.

Re: Softube Tape Echoes

$15 is a solid deal. I bought Tape Echoes when Softube last had an upgrade sale right after Dirty Tape was released and free. Sure, you could probably ballpark the idea with a combo of effects. $15 for an efficient and great sounding delay/reverb is well worth the price.

Re: [Dubstep] - Let's Play Tonight

I like the song and its structure. The kick is very robotic and stiff while the rest of the instruments seem really tame in comparison. That left me feeling wanting more from the mix. Other than that, the mix is still very clean. Nice work!

Re: (Weird Progressive Electronica) - Giant Space Squid

This is really cool especially since this gets into the weird industrial territory I've recently been drawn to. I'd be interested to hear more about how you used Echobode on this track. I've had my eye on that RE for a while now and haven't pulled the trigger since it never goes on sale.

Re: Any comments for NI FM8 for 12 bucks?

The sale is really shopping me. I don't have much of a use for FM8 even after downloading the demo but I still want to get it because why not for only $12? Must. Resist.

Or not.

Re: Torsion Texture Lab, what do you use it for?

I recently demoed it and, like most Lectric Panda REs, really enjoy the randomize button. Between that and the mod matrix you can really get lost in this thing. Even with the latest discount in pricing I didn't end up buying it because I found it a little frustrating that you can only play one note ...

Re: (Deep Minimal House) Horizonte

I like the chill, funky vibe. The mix is very clean, too. I do agree with Popey. I felt like there were areas where vocals of any kind would have fit nicely. Even if they're random vocal shots. Either way it doesn't detract from the song. Nice work!

I always enjoy this style especially since it's nothing something I'd be able to pull off. You've got a solid arrangement and mix. Overall, really nice work. I'd be curious to hear what the original sounds like.

Re: Kuassa Rectifor RE in action…

Giving this RE a test drive and not really sold on it so far. If I didn't have anything to put this up against then I'd maybe be on board but it's unfortunately not really holding a candle to anything. Some of the things that aren't really cutting it for me: 1. The onboard cabs are underwhelming. Af...

Very interesting stuff. I always like checking out what you've come up with. The deep sea visual you mentioned is very fitting. Drifting Through Drifters really does have an underwater atmosphere. You can tell when you're getting too close to the jellyfish. Calmness puts you closer to the sea floor ...

Aside from what's already been said about variations, I wouldn't mind some added tape warble on the synths to really enhance the 80's vibe.

Re: Kuassa Rectifor RE in action…

I'll be interested in giving this a go once it's released since I've played Mesa Rectifiers for years. Initial impressions based on the videos and Soundcloud examples is that it sounds more like a Marshall than a Mesa Rectifier. That's only going by the initial examples so I'll reserve my final thou...

Well, I've probably said this before, you have inspired me to really think more about what's possible with programmed drums. I also like TritoneAddiction's drum work. The detail, all the fills and rolling toms and stuff going on is so good in this track. It seems so painstaking, but the end result ...

Glad you liked it. I tend to over-write when I'm coming up with songs and have a longer initial skeleton. Once I get a bunch of ideas and the general structure down I then get rid of a lot things that I don't like or don't feel fit the overall picture. Next thing I know, 3-4 minutes is now down to ...

Similar to what others have said, I would have liked more melodic variation but totally understand the reservations since this style doesn't really call for it. It still could have given that edge nudge to keep interest as I found myself skipping ahead. I did pick up on the subtle changes which made...
