Re: I need mixing help
I am not an expert, as a matter of fact, I just opened a thread about some problems I had myself, but as a fellow "headphone mixer", I CAN give you this advice; When your mix sounds good on your headphones, take all the hard hitting drum elements (kick and snare, mostly) and turn down the faders fo...

Re: Studiomux
I jumped on this (also had to get Audiobus) but I didn't have time to properly test it. I'm on Windows 10. (It's 3am now, time for some hockey, but I'll try to get this working tomorrow and I'll report back in. Until then, go Nashville!) WooHoo, go Preds!!! Sorry, back to your regularly scheduled t...

Re: Studiomux
Ok after a few hours of pulling my hair out I have now got audio in from iPad into Reasons VST and have now managed to Midi out to iPad apps. So far I am only experimenting with "Soundscaper" IOS app running through Studiomux and it works ok, BPM from Reason is being sent. Not tried the Midi device...

Re: REASON 10 FEATURE REQUESTS
A simple mono mixer output option. Not only will this help with judging mixing balance, it will save me have to convert stereo files that I export that only need to be in mono - e.g. vocal takes. You can already export mono tracks as mono files, just use Bounce Mixer Channels and be sure to select ...

Re: Frequency analysers and Reason 9.5
I get this same kind of graphical lag with Serum. I reported a bug and they said they've gotten a few similar reports and are looking into it! I will do the same so. A synth fair enough but a frequency analysers job is to represent what's being played visually! I have noticed it in the past too jus...

Glad to hear the audio parts are working - I think I'll check this out for sure, thanks for the heads up.
Hope the MIDI part is up and running for you soon!

Ha, good one!gullum wrote:my brother said to me some time ago after listening to one of my CD's "if someone hands you a paper, you don't have to draw on the whole paper"
Back when recording on 24 track machines we used to joke that we knew the production was "finished" when all the tracks were filled!

Re: Does it actually matter how many tracks are in a song?
At some point in a thread like this, some old geezer (like me) invariably points out that the Beatles recorded Sgt. Pepper using 4 tracks. Yes, they did multiple bounces to effectively use more than four tracks, but in the final mix, they were working with a 4 track master. Okay, now that that's ou...

Re: **NEW** Softube Tape "It's time to get reel"
Tried it. It's not bad but it's seriously lacking compared to the J37. Everything about the J37 is better: saturation, wow & flutter and stereo image. Some of the Tape saturation can be nasty while it doesn't offer much range. The Normal setting for Wow is rather extreme. The J37 is best tape sim I...

people will buy this just because it looks cool Yeah. @U-HE: Yeah, it was great. A lot of sound sculpting iirc, and the fx are nice. But, I'm over most saturation. Maybe on drums, maybe on the master. But this "every track" is overkill to the max. If you hear saturation, it's probably too much in m...

Re: What's the differences between CV and Audio cables?
How did you come to the conclusion it's linear interpolation? Just a guess. Usually linear interpolation is used since it's easy on CPU to smooth between blocks value. Reason use different interpolation? You mean Thor? I think Thor might use linear interpolation to convert CV to audio (no smoothing...

Re: What's the differences between CV and Audio cables?
Why clicks? With step for 1 ms you can't hear any clicks when move knob, I think. But as example I hear clicks when play on breathcontroller and use BC as volume dynamics in NN-XT. Knobs are smoothed so they won't click - with no smoothing, you WILL hear clicks with some controls. This could be why...

Re: Does it actually matter how many tracks are in a song?
I saw that Infected Mushroom plugin commercial that someone posted on this forum and they had something like 280 tracks. I think I remember hearing Ricky Martin's La Vida Loca having similarly almost 300 tracks. I have no idea what they're doing with these projects, but they sound... cumbersome and...

Re: Combinator note lanes greyed out?
The problem has to do with your settings in the Combinator Programmer for velocity. For the highlighted instrument "Ninth Copy" you have the low velocity set to 105 and the high to 127. That means if you play velocities below 105 you will hear nothing! So literally to "un-grey" them you set the low ...

Re: Stereo played in mono question
I will but I hate to. It's sacrilege to me. For any stereo producer Think of mono as "black and white" and stereo as color (and surround as 3D!). LOTS of amazing sounding recordings mixed in mono, same for B&W films/photos. It's just another format, that's all. :) Sent from some crappy device using...

Also as a side note.. https://proaudioclube.com/2016/04/21/auditorium-acoustics-102-reflections-make-difference/ I am mostly concerned about frequency resonances. Easiest trick is find them is to playback a sinewave sweep or stepped sequence of notes moving higher in pitch. Often in the low range t...

Re: Stereo played in mono question
I think I know the answer but after all this time I'm not certain so I have to ask. I was just listening to Daft Punk's Random Access Memories album and found myself amazed how wide (with very little mid volume) they let things like snares or claps get and I had this thought... how do they maintain...

Re: **NEW** Softube Tape "It's time to get reel"
Looks great. I'd actually say feature wise it looks about on par with Satin actually. For Studio One users definitely as the grouping feature of Satin is basically built into S1 Mix fx. .... the track crosstalk integration is pretty sweet. i really hope we will se channel cross talk in Reason soon....

Re: Microphone for vocals - advice needed
Hey Selig, you seem like a guy who's been around enough pro-level stuff to know what's going on. For the home studio person who has a limited budget but still might wish to score some gear for the odd jobs, what do you think of those Behringer pairings, as a sub $100 product ? I have them myself, a...
