Part of me agrees with you. I'll get more sound quality for the money, take a up less real estate.

The PSQ-1684 is great because its flexible. It can be a drum machine, a pattern sequencer/selector, a waveform generator. In a combinator the possibilities explode. It can be random, it can be linear. It's just so nice to stay in the rack and tweak it instead of going back and forth to the sequencer...

But isn't that how all instruments work here?

And concerning multi-channdl VST support, I doubt it.

I don't get why you can't load Kontakt as a VST in the rack and send MIDI to it as any other instrument?

This has crossed my mind a few times.

What if Props opened up the sequencer to developers and the sequencer section became like a rack extension? Imagine a sequencer designed by Lectric Panda! I imagine the sdk would be intense, with loads of requirements.

I ended up using a little Neptune and a little Thor filtering. It sounds very robotic but for the song it's appropriate.
Next time I'll just put my balls in a vice.
