Re: Blockhead DAW

I only got a few minutes in but considering that both the DAWs I use have an audio warp feature that you can apply to music not recorded to the click, this dude maybe could have spent some time learning how DAWs work before deciding he needed to build one from scratch

Interface noise

I have been experimenting with running virtual instruments through an external loop pedal. When I plug my interface into a mixer and using the fx loop the sound is fine. But when I run the output directly into pedals there is a ton of digital static noise. Is this a ground issue or something? Edit: ...

Re: Pattern mutator bug?

My bad! User error. I had Auto Quantise recording switched on and the grid resolution set to 1 bar. So Cubase was bumping all the notes to the start of the bar.

Pattern mutator bug?

Using Pattern Mutator in RRP , trying to record the midi out but it just records all the notes onto the first beat of the clip. You can see the result in the screenshot. Not even sure how it is managing that, the playback during the record sounds as it should

Re: One for the guitarists

Don’t worry about your guitar . It will be fine. You don’t need fancy rigs or need to obsess about tone. The internet is full of idiots spouting off to justify the ton of money they have spent on this and that or influencers shilling whatever has just come out. In your position you need to be worryi...

Back when it was all clinical grey Doepfer stuff I used to think Eurorack was really cool and sophisticated. These days it looks like expensive candy for man-babies. Lol

Re: One for the guitarists

Don’t headphone up man, put it out into the world, warts and all! That’s part of the beauty of real instruments, they exist in the world and you have to own that, honestly you will get better quicker if you make some noise. But when you have to because it’s late at night or whatever, the Kuassa amp ...

Re: DAWProject: PreSonus and Bitwig have teamed up to launch a universal file format for DAWs

I’m interested in it for archival purposes. It could be a cure for obsolete proprietary file types. I expect its prospects rely on the big guns adopting it though. Apple can’t abide anything open source, Ableton probably think that their file type should be the standard and Steinberg won’t want to g...

The folks at Microsoft must have had their heads really far up their backsides if they ever thought anyone would be pleased to experience Windows 10s.

Coaxial spdif input

Any clue as to what my options are for adding a coaxial digital spdif input to my workstation pc are? Cheap usb dongle? Ancient sound card with windows 11 drivers?

I prefer the trials that timeout after 10 minutes but let you dip in whenever you feel like it. The thing I might not need today might be the perfect thing in 6 months time.

Re: How are your midi devices?

I think convenience comes from sticking to an ‘era’ of tech. If everything is designed to work with everything else it is usually fairly seamless. It’s when you start trying to hook up something older to something new that it gets tricky. I remember thinking that the scsi cdrw drive I had with my Ta...

Re: Add Unison effect to an oscillator in Thor SEPARATELY

To make envelopes like that with control voltage you need a rhythmic pulse (Thor’s sequencer for ex.) going into an envelope shaper, like an adsr . If you hook up an oscilloscope you can see a visual representation. You route all the c.v. in the matrix editor. You can do all that if it’s fun for you...

You don’t have to hold on to the hardware paradigm of making everything work with one device. It’s software; multiple instances are free, take advantage of that.

Don’t think so. Also, I think only the true Reason diehards are still calling it the most powerful synth in the world, lol. Europa lets you unison per oscillator.

I had to ditch a perfectly good Tascam interface because the drivers were abandoned and kept playing up. I made a point of buying a class compliant one after that.

Re: How are your midi devices?

Most of the electronics I have had fail over the last few years have had the micro usb port break. I also had a Beatstep pro that frazzled and needed the whole board replacing. Li-on battery’s are useless over time. I miss the days of cylindrical dc power ports and AA or 9v rechargeable batteries.
