Re: Reason 12 has arrived
Combinator 2 is very cool. Slick, easy to use design. Those alignment lines are very helpful. Super Mario Maker vibes indeed. I do think it needs more control elements though - I'm genuinely surprised there isn't a vertical fader in there, let alone something groovy like an XY pad. It's a bit barebo...

Re: High resolution Reason is here!
Another major issue here: Reason now doesn't do scaling for VST's running in Reason, they are tiny on a 4K screen with 200% Windows scaling, with zoom in Reason at 100%. They should be scaled to 200% as per my Windows settings, just like the rest of Reason. This sounds like an issue in the VSTs. Th...

Speaking of humor; I love Mitch Hedberg. RIP. He was a comic genius. I had the pleasure of meeting him many times when I was working at the FunnyBone in Boise and Giggle Comedy Club in Seattle. He was one of the nicest stars I've ever met. He was a legend. He would just get up there with his eyes c...

Re: Make the Europa's FX polyphonic
I've definitely had situations where I've been wishing for a polyphonically applied effect, for sound design purposes - distortion or reverb or compression or theoretically anything really. But the reality is that it's very rare to find it featured on synths. It's a niche feature and probably CPU in...

Re: What's the deepest RE synth?
I usually pick Expanse or Thor when I want to have maximum sound design avenues available in a single synth, but the reality is that workflow wise Reason has the Combinator, and I always start sounddesign in that, so the question of which RE/synth to use is trivial to me. Nostromo deserves a special...

Re: How do you sample streaming audio? Ex. Netflix
I plug one of my hardware audio outputs into back into my inputs, with a cable.. :) Involves another DA/AD conversion but it works just fine. Yep, this is a reliable method for realtime sampling that doesn't involve fucking around with software loopbacks, and it magically ignores any DRM nonsense t...

I say, give the workerbees at Propellerheads a rest, and let RE developers carry us through the summer Now that they won't be crucified as quickly as before for CPU useage, they're finally free to take some more risk with advanced icing-on-the-soundcake algorithms

Re: How is the best way to render audio in highest quality?
I'd say, definitely disable that new 10.3 CPU saving option, if you want accurate CV timing on export (if what Dioxide says is correct about the export being tied to buffer settings) - you'd want that rendered the old 64 samples way if you're doing CV drums or something that requires proper timing. ...

Re: New Fat50 RE
I think the most recent update introduced a bug - or it's always been there, I just hadn't noticed. I noticed a slight fluctuation in the output volume of a bassdrum I was running through Fat50. I measured it roughly with Selig Gain and checked an internally bounced and normalized clip to check if a...

The BASS in this THING!!! DAMNNN!!!! I have to turn of all EQs. Now that is some Starting Sonics. If you like deep warm bass, you should definitely check out the Analog Rytm too - I have the MKI and while I don't use it much for sequencing anymore, I couldn't live without my homemade bassdrums :)

Re: Do you use limiters in the mix stage ... etc
Grab that free kHs Limiter. It's very simple, but good, and you can chuck it in anywhere you like and get a feel for what it does. Yes! I use this nice little limiter for mix purposes, when I need to cut out some nasty peaks, such as ones that keep spiking through compression. I use it quite often....

Re: Making a song working may need milli-acurate mixing
Text/numerical input on rack device controls (instead of just in the sequencer automation section) is very high on my feature wish list! It's frustrating having to use that automation workaround all the time. I'm OCD about setting values (even if it makes no audible difference, sometimes I just pref...

No no Enoch, that's not how this works. You just had your legs cut off with a samurai sword and then your bleeding torso was trampled to mushy paste by a herd of wildebeest. You can't just come back from that with a calmly expressed, rational counterargument.

Re: Driving me potty!
It's a stupid idea. It's always a hell of a lot slower. You probably know that so I am not sure why you're asking. Well sure it's (almost always) slower, but if a person's built-in drive is filled up yet they aren't ready to retire their computer, what other choice is there? Hardly not stupid, IMHO...
