Re: Spring sale has started bargains galore (March 2023)
Nice! Timely for me, upgrade to RSN12 imminent what happens to discontinued REs? I have FXpansion, Softube and U-He stuff I been using for years...do they become unusable? Where do I find out the ramifications of upgrading?...Reason Studios is not great at full disclosure IME Maybe I'll just start ...

Re: is that true that reason is not backward compatible?
Yeah, thanks Selig, I'm not asking for this to be implemented the simplest protocol is probably to trade stems, actually I'm not really interested in getting into the software rental game, man it's just a conversation here on the clarity of version compatibility I understand - it’s your collaborato...

Re: is that true that reason is not backward compatible?
Sorry guys, but we aren't talking about a 15 year difference in versions we are talking Reason 10 (2017) to 12 (2021) I fully understand there would be issues and a protocol would need to be established between collaborators anyway, no probs...I get it Then it seems the simplest and most reliable p...

Re: is that true that reason is not backward compatible?
I can't then open with v10 anything he has done in Reason + v12 That would be forward compatibility. You need a time machine for that :puf_wink: I tried to get him to buy a v10 license! doh! (not really) anyway, things like MS word/exel allow saving for older versions further some softwares allow i...

Re: is that true that reason is not backward compatible?
I've been a Reason user for 20 years, too I've never had an issue opening up old vanilla songs in a newer version now I've started collaborating with a friend who just purchased Reason+ 12, he can (obviously) open and work on my v10 songs once he acquires the REs he doesn't have that I have used I c...

I'm so close to jumping ship...I should done more research before suggesting my friend and I collab using Reason aaand, I'm far too superstitious to purchase a version 13 of anything...I might entertain the idea of version XIII the 200 currency upgrade cost and old school RE devs disappearing from t...

Re: Reason 12 upgrade from 8.0
I'm thinking to do similar as I have a Reason 8.3 and a v10 license (yes, separate licenses)...I originally bought two licenses to run on two computers simultaneous...but, REs and VSTs become an issue...and I've never done it

Re: Softube gone from the shop?
I've started collaborating again with an old friend long distance. He jumped right in to RSN12. I made a list of the REs I often use and was surprised to see Softube and FXpansion gone from the shop. I bought the Producer Pack bundle in a sale. I suppose some of these "outdated" companies can just p...

you'll have make the layout(s) yourself
you might not like the way the controls look
but MDP2 is a bit more powerful than TouchOSC IME

Re: NI soundbank alternatives: orchestral, r&b, soul
ok, a couple days on and Session Horns Pro is pretty darn good there are quite a few "animations" (loops) which are quality IMO. I haven't actually programmed/ recorded anything yet, just getting to know the instrument. The great thing about this set is it sounds like pop, R&B, funk etc and not like...

Re: NI soundbank alternatives: orchestral, r&b, soul
So, Session Horns Pro took me 4 full days and nights to download. I can't say I know how to use Kontact at all; so there's that. Does sound pretty nice and NI seems to have done an awful lot of work to make it easy on the user...straight outta the box a lot of ground is covered...there's plenty of a...

OK, thanks to y'all who made suggestions. After a lot of research and listening at Loopmasters, Big Fish, VSL and NI I've gone with NI. I need horns for my current soundalike so just purchased Session Horns Pro mainly due to this discussion: https://www.gearslutz.com/board/music-computers/1308454-20...

Re: Dragged a rex loop onto an existing audio track with a name. How do I find out which one I used, retrospectively??
there is actually a way. You just have to click inside the audio to get the file name (with a .rx2 extension) in comping mode. Do a search in the system with the finder (mac or pc that is). And that's it! yeah, I have a similar issue with a song I just finished. A few single hits were just DnD and ...
