Re: Any thoughts on stem mastering vs standard mastering?
The way I see it is, you need stem mastering when you need mastered stems. The only application where you require mastered stems, as far as I know (after seeing a very elaborate explanation by Junkie XL), is for big movie productions where the music gets mixed on the sound stage together with dialog...

Re: Can You Route a VST to a Channel on an Analog Mixer?
Wasn't talking about my audio interface (my new mixer) but sounds do-able then. That mixer doesn't seem to have any digital connections, as in AD/DA convertors. If you want to connect a VST to its separate channel on that mixer, it needs a separate output (DA convertor) on your audio interface. Tha...

Re: Can You Route a VST to a Channel on an Analog Mixer?
If you have enough outputs on your audio interface, you can simply cable each VST instrument to that output in Reason.

Re: Looking for a specific cv utility
Just checked (I have 12.2.3 and 11 Suite installed in my studio). Unfortunately, it appears that the change to the combinator file format makes it impossible to load these files into previous versions, including R11 and before. Checking that box doesn't help.

Re: Looking for a specific cv utility
I think this box needs to be checked in order for it to save a legacy Combi patch. That should work to save as a combinator V1 (not sure about that, will test). I was pointing to the fact that combinator V2 patches (with custom controls etc.) saved with 12.2.3 won't be able to load in previous R12 ...

Re: Anyone remember Music-X?
Early nineties I had an Atari Mega-1, running Cubase with a Midex which gave me a total of 80 midi-channels in and out. The Midex also hat SMPTE, so that was hooked up to one track of a Tascam 488. I still have that stuff, although the keyboard and mouse of the Atari got missing during a house move....

Re: An update CV Tools
So why then, has there not been an update to CV capabilities since 2012 (i.e Pulsar)? There are a lot of CV-tools available in the shop for free, so I don't see the problem. I also like the fact that the current situation (with third party REs) gives me choices. reason studios is never going to cat...

Re: What is the best Reason synth or RE to create PPG Wave 2 type sounds
Our huge collection of internal wavetables in WTFM synthesizer include PPG waveform selection in operators Thanks for your suggestion. WTFM is on my list to get eventually, not specifically for those wavetables, though. As I mentioned, I have most of the PPG's wavetables available to load into anyt...

Re: What is the best Reason synth or RE to create PPG Wave 2 type sounds
But ... you must understand that "PPG sound" does not exist. I understand your perspective, but I like to disagree. The PPG Wave sound has a lot to do with the specific wavetables. That's why I mentioned 'getting the PPG wavetables. Besides that, I agree that most wavetable synths, that are capable...

What is the best Reason synth or RE to create PPG Wave 2 type sounds
I'm talking about the kind of sounds that Tangerine Dream used to do with the PPG Wave. First step is obviously to get the Wave 2 wavetables. I already got most of them. I also know Thor has some of them available in its wavetable oscillator. Question is, are there any Rack instruments that are bett...

Re: 9€/month REs subscription plan - your suggestions
yeah, you can still use them all for other things, but it's like saying an amp sim isn't for guitars just because you can run a synth through it or whatever. Funny thing is that historically, compressors were developed for voice broadcast, so they are actually vocal processors that are now used for...

How did I misquote you, as I quoted your text verbatim? You tend to state things as undeniable truths, while they are 'just' your opinion. In 'my opinion' your opinion is wrong.

That said, the film is not friendly to media (or much else, actually!), so no surprise there are bad reviews. Yep. I really liked that it hits on political correctness throughout the movie, which obviously would lead to some bad reviews. This movie is not pulling any punches, which already is reaso...

..Or, you could use this fantastic combi OP made for us, or PG8X without having to mess around and make thor templates. :D It is a very nice combinator for sure. However, I'm more a tweaker than a preset user. Recreating those presets is teaching me more about the synth I'm using to recreate. I'm a...

You can use anything that gives you a programmable CV-signal. The obvious choice being the Matrix sequencer or any RE-sequencer that has CV-out (like Korde). There are also some players like Sequences that have CV-outs.

Re: PG-8X
Try Panda's DYN-4 compressor for OTT. Close enough for me. I've seen it being referred to as such, so I picked it up last week in the current sale. I did not yet have the time to try it out, though. ...so the PG-8X is a keeper for me. Modern synth don't make sounds like that one anymore. I've alway...

Re: PG-8X
I was considering doing a combi for PG-8X, as I'm one of those who want to have stuff 'in the rack' and get rid of pesky pop-up windows. Back in the days of the first MS Windows version (I think it was 1.03, yep, I'm old) there was this joke (we didn't call them memes back then): 'What is Windows?: ...

Re: Rack Extension for switching Players pattern?
If you put a player into a combinator, you can map a CV-in on the combinator to the pattern select of the player.
