Re: Reason Sounds Sound Dated
Honestly, the only thing I wish Props would change is an updated Subtractor (the oscillators seem thin to me) and it takes some work to get them sturdy with fx. But when they made it they were probably trying to harness the digital potential available to them. Still nothing has the ol Subtractor sou...

Re: Blamsoft and eXode present VK-2 Viking Synthesizer
It's reasons (pun very intended) like these I don't envy other DAWs or ecosystems. VK-2 looks beautiful *sobbing*. At some point I will get it and The Legend.

Re: one thing with using blocks is a problem
I use everything in block mode ... effects ... automation ... just everything. When I'm done with the arrangement, I add an overlay in songmode to glue stuff together and fix flaws from the block transitions. This. I stopped fighting what I couldn't do and kind of appreciated what I could do with i...

Re: Patch Organization
You could create your own categories for this kind of thing. It's called favorites. In the Reason search browser hit the plus button. Then go to all of your patches and just drag and drop them on your new favorites list. Give it a pretty name and you're done! If that's what I'm getting at here?? I h...

Re: Pan knob acting as Dry/Wet knob
Love reading these forums man. Good stuff to know about whats going on with the panning in the stereo channels. That was one gripe a buddy of mine had with Logic. I never noticed that with Reason but thanks for the info friends!

Re: one thing with using blocks is a problem
I use to have the same concern as you with blocks since I always sequenced without it. Blocks seemed to interrupt that movement between two parts that would seamlessly change. But if you work with patterned base music, I've stopped trying to fight it and learn to use its strength. Changing the schem...

Re: Leasing REs?
I don't see why this would be a huge issue unless the entire scope of purchasing RE were altered. The Rack Extension implementation would've been a crutch anyway to gain momentum because the idea and purpose of Reason was limited in its birth. That's not even a point to discuss. By Reason 6 it becam...

Re: About RE GUIs
GUI is a huge importance for me. It compiles me whether or not the synth will create a certain sound or if I will even attempt creating a sound with it. Looks and sound must go hand in hand. I opened Zero, and closed it again for this exact reason - made 'Zero' sense to me. I'm sad to hear that, bu...

Re: Normalizing tracks (or not)
My philosophy is to have ALL audio signals peaking around -12 dBFS, which leaves enough headroom to avoid clipping in most all cases, and means you don't have to lower all the faders when mixing (or lower the master). There are other advantages, but this is the main one IMO. :) I've found -12 dBFS ...

Very new to the forum here but I wanted to post my 3c. I'm from the school of no touching faders. I'll trigger Kong from ReDrum and do my levels and tweaking in Kong or through the Insert effects of the Mix Channels. Find it to be really important when using saturation stuff and keeping balanced le...
