Re: All RS Rack Extensions are now in the Rewards Shop

In anticipation of my new guitar arriving (whenever that may be is anybody s guess) I bought some pedals. Been a loooong time. Was so back and forth in a Dimension-C chorus it wasn’t true but in the end I did the sensible thing and got an MXR analog chorus instead. Then there’s the Phase 90. There’...

Re: Vocal Booth Lyrics display

Singer should know the song at least for the most part before recording anyway if you want the best performance out of them. Pretty much how I feel about it too, a good old fashioned sheet of paper and pencil will always do the trick with a little tape in a pinch. In my band rehearsals/recording se...

Re: Bassline Generator is Here... Check Your Companion...

I played around with the combi's and right off the bat I really like "Lo-Fi Elements" and "Scenic View", I think they are made by the same person, whoever made those did a nice job!

Re: Want to be a part of the Bassline Generator launch?

Yeah you should drop the genre boundaries and just go with good musical ideas, and if someone happens to do folk, heavy metal, dub/reggae, rock, jazz, classical, etc... than that only helps broaden the scope of what you are selling.

Re: New Album (weird pop) Bulbous Caverns

This is a great track to start with! I really like all the elements you have put into it, it's got a lot of hooks, and a nice ending melody and rhythm that you incorporate. Vocals are perfect for this. Nicely done! I look forward to hearing more from you.

A shortcut for bouncing mixer channels in terms of multi-selecting the ones you want... on the mixer select all the channels you want via shift clicking like you mentioned BEFORE you click on bounce mixer channels and all those tracks will be selected upon opening the dialog bounce menu. https://www...

Re: Pultec EQ emulations.... which one do you prefer?

Here is a chart comparing puigtec and mp5 at max settings of both boost and cut @60hz and a max boost and cut @10Khz. The bandwidth is max'd too.

Similar but different, like you mentioned selig the hardware units are all different. I have a few Warm Audio EQP's and they sound pretty close too.

Re: Pultec EQ emulations.... which one do you prefer?

I definitely hear a result, I bet if the resolution of our graphs were finer it would be easier to see, it's pretty easy to hear. I never see people go that far with the "trick" but I am not disagreeing, everyone has their own ways. The graphs are for example only, it's not a pultec curve, I made a ...

Re: Pultec EQ emulations.... which one do you prefer?

would be curious if anyone is surprised by the actual curve of the "low end trick", especially how wide the cut is and how high it affects the response. I never tend to use the EQ boosted and/or cut at the maximum values, if you do a smaller boost/cut at the same frequencies it isn't drastic at all...

Just a quick note that the new versions of Cursus and Basimilus are now in my account (as an owner of the former synth bundle 1). Thank you very much, Noise Engineering, for the free updates/upgrades. Desmodus, btw, is great.... :D In my account it looks like I have Cursus now, but Basimilus...

Re: Comparing Pultec EQ emulations

There is also Waves Puigtec and UA Pultec, and quite a few more I'm blanking on right now. For me the UA is my go to. They tend to model the analgog components better than most versions, and you definitely pay a price for it. They actually have all the original gear to model it from, and experienced...

Re: Building a feedback loop - looking for ideas, techniques

Something fun to play with is layering the tail of a reverb pitched up an octave sent through a feedback loop on top of the dry signal for the shimmery type of effect that you hear in Photon. I tend to favor a longer diffused type of verb for this. Another thing to play with that I am a fan of is ad...

Re: is Reason lite enough

Only you can answer that. If you’re able to complete songs in 11 lite, then it’s enough. If you feel you need more, then it’s not. There is an option of a payment plan from sellers that offer it or stores still selling the boxes versions of the 11 upgrade from lite if you can find one local to your...

What I would do in your position is download the demo and see how you get along, just be aware whatever tunes you make won't open up after the demo expires. The other thing to know is you can download the demo without signing up which isn't exactly clear when you go to grab it, so no need to enter c...

I thought that was an interesting read all around. I think the quote that stood out the most for me was... But Ableton’s focus lies in improving its software to stay current with music production technology, plus guarding its independence. “That feels very important to the culture of the place,” say...

The other 2 are in there. Another weird thing I noticed upon installing was the date said Nov. 13th, and after de...

Re: Unable to open Reason yesterday

I bought R12 so I can authorize one computer without having to sign in. Re: SM58 vs SM58S (best with an on/off switch or not?)

Small diapragm microphone has a faster transient response, so if you are doing something with a lot of articulation you should try that, I like using that as a close mic within 9 inches or less between the 12th fret and soundhole, and if I am in a decent sounding room, I'll use a LDC farther back, s...

Re: SM58 vs SM58S (best with an on/off switch or not?)

The 58 does work good for vocals and is preferred by a lot of sound engineers for that application because of the filter, but some people actually like the 57 better because you can "eat" the mic and get closer to the capsule, but it really depends on your vocal style. The on/off switch could come i...
