Re: Reason 10 announced!
The obvious question is will the Props cave and finally allow pre-orders? Right now if you own Reason 8 or below (or don't own Reason) you can technically pre-order by just buying Reason 9 or the upgrade to Reason 9 and you'll get R10 when it comes out. It would be very nice for us dedicated Reason ...

Re: Pole: Reason 10 Upgrade
Yes Because reason makes me very happy I double quote that! :) Fundamentally this. Reason may have many faults and failings. It may need workflow and performance fixes. But it’s still the most fun DAW for me right now. $129 for a bunch of instruments and whatever else they come up with this cycle i...

Re: So VST performance fix will come after V10, that means we have to upgrade???
That’s down to the Props, but with most other apps only the latest version gets bug fixes. You can understand why if you think about it for a second, it’s not so much about trying to get you to upgrade although that’s a benefit from their perspective, as costs maintaining old source code and integra...

Re: Reason 9.5.2 is now available!
normen - Please re-read - I have to ask, do you know the difference between MP and MT? That long post is the MP performance compared between Reason and S1. SP performance differences are just an aside. You made those assumptions about threading, they weren’t pulled out of a hat. This stuff may just ...

Very old skool, which is a good thing. Love the acid, chip and j-pop influences and the energy of the piece. Great job!

I like it! It's captured that vintage lo-fi vibe well. Very chilled.
If you're looking for critiques - the only thing bothering me ever so slightly is the kick drum, maybe it's a little too even/programmed sounding, or maybe it's just slightly to dry, or just a tiny bit too high in the mix.

Meh, that again. Let me translate what you just said: „Multithreading is for making things fast. Heres two random misconceptions nobody in this thread had. If you compute with two processors you compute faster. Some plugins might have issues with multithreading. Multithreading in Reason might impro...

Re: More than 4 cores
Possibly terminology but the thing is not as simple as that, The CPU resources are shared, but within a single cycle the code within both threads can be executed, that’s the job of the “front end” in the Wikipedia diagram. Basically just because the execution engine is shared doesn’t mean that only ...

Re: Reason 9.5.2 is now available!
There are very real problems when it scales negatively. The function of MP is to speed things up, not slow things down. It's a misconception that multithreading automatically results in improved processing. It's also a misconception that high processor usage indicates effective multithreading. The ...

Re: More than 4 cores
It’s quite simple. Hyper-Threading is a core technology of most modern PC’s. If you are going to support HT then it must be for positive gain. To put that in context other applications that utilize MT have no problem in doing so. If your application cannot make efficient use of HT then you shouldn’t...

Re: Any fix/info yet on the UAD Plugin issue ?
That’s only if the buffer is set to 64 for the project. It’s the same as for Reason. The plugin buffer doesn’t reflect the project settings and never will, it’s the latency that the plugin introduces on the Apollo. For both Reason and S1 while using a project sample buffer size of 64 the plugin buff...

Re: More than 4 cores
I've found situations in which Reason scales negatively (i.e. gets slower the more cores available to it). Especially with UAD plugins. Unfortunately I don't have time to run a more comprehensive test on different setups and plugins as I have a life and a day job, but Reason definitely has MT issues...

Re: Any fix/info yet on the UAD Plugin issue ?
Ok, tested today. In both Reason and Studio 1 the plugin requires 576 samples, regardless of how many instances of that plugin there are (remember this device is asynchronous so this value only represents plugin delay, not a block on processing that would impact the overall performance at any buffer...

Re: (Rock/Rap Backing Track) Stick It
Awesome stuff. I've put it together now with everything else, tried to punch things up a little bit more to really get the energy of the performances more in your face, and I had a couple of ideas for FX on the verse vocals to give it what I think is a cool swirling angry demonic feel that seemed to...

Re: "REASON TOO SLOW TO PLAY SONG"
Some VST’s are very heavy, but you don’t need to use them. Just carry on using Reason as you did before without VSTs, in theory at least you should get the same performance as you did before.

Re: Reason 9.5.2 is now available!
And an important thing to understand about hyper threading: Hyper threading works by distributing load better. However, the way audio processing and Reason works when you put multiple devices in one chain (for example as insert fx or create one monster combinator) they are all processed together as...

Lets just hope the Props know more about MT coding than you then... Oh, you were serious? Sorry, I thought you were just throwing around these basic multithreading-related terms as a joke. Most of those would have been decided on long ago or be defined by the circumstances anyway? Fyi, LUA is used ...

Re: Reason 10 announced!
Well the Props do have to make money somehow, I don't think Reason itself is the real earner, it's just the platform.
