Re: How common is this frustration?
Agree... But if there isn't any flow, one beer and trying out things are just fun. Yeah I can see that but the only person I know who can just have one beer is my grandma. I remember on one of my recent flop days, I had some beers and just decided to make the most unappealing, distorted wall of noi...

Re: How common is this frustration?
Get a beer and relax... I've already done my fair share of condoning this but if you could get by without it then more power to you! I find it helps me push through the arrangement process but that is after I have core ideas and a solid enough mix. Only recommended for the more advanced...

Re: How common is this frustration?
I'm at a point where I can have a project (start to finish) in one twelve hour session on a day off from work. One out of three sessions is a flop for me and I just make some stuff that will probably collect dust on the drive. I'm fine with that if I can go hard two out of three days. After enough e...

Re: (Slow techno/chill-out - 120bpm) Inner Sign
There is a nice vibe going on here. Something happening with the percussion to make it sound a bit manic. It sounds like one of the double tambourine hits is nudged out of time a little too much so it is a bit jarring rather than groovy. Maybe it was intentional but I think it is pretty distracting....

Re: Propellerhead introduces Layers synth.
I already have the ReFill. This device makes me think of their large urban producer market. There are plenty of folks who just want to make beats. I follow some pretty talented hip hop and r&b guys on YouTube and this device would be great for them.

Re: Mixing with monitors or headphones?
If you have good speakers and set up in a good way it is always superior to headphones in all ways. I work 12-14 hours a day with headphones, so I keep the volume low to protect my ears from fatigue and damage. Is that all producing / mixing time? Been reading some of your comments you seem pretty ...

Oh yeah that is a great idea! Thanks!esselfortium wrote: ↑13 Sep 2017Then you can use either Scream4's or Pulverizer's volume-to-CV to control a mixer channel's level (to use the input audio to control how much, if any, noise is being heard at a given time).

What do you like to use to layer a lead melody with white noise and how do you integrate it smoothly into the timbre?

Re: Mixing with monitors or headphones?
Edit: Oh, and I believe your production quality is good enough, maybe just a matter of finding the right label. But I'm sure you have your own standards you want to meet before sending anything off. Thanks for vouching for me so people don't think I'm a lunatic. Yeah my standards are pretty h...

Re: Mixing with monitors or headphones?
Yea, I really need to set aside some time in the near future to work on some of my own music! Some stuff that I really put effort into and not just half ass. One of these days! Do it! Do it now! Saying "one of these days" is a very dangerous mentality because you will wake up soon as a gr...

Re: Mixing with monitors or headphones?
My problem is when I improve my ability to make music, I'm ashamed of my old creations. Tend to delete them and move on. Hey there's another thing we have in common! Haa! I've had multiple releases on my Bandcamp profile which was removed earlier this year because I feel like I've come such a long ...

Re: Mixing with monitors or headphones?
I'm curious about this. I don't know those plugins, so maybe they have a way of doing this, but are you able to process the sound with this method in such a way that it will show nullification from phase issues when switching to mono? No they just do what they do but as far as metering goes I'd rat...

If you have good speakers and set up in a good way it is always superior to headphones in all ways. I always strive to use my headphones as little as possible. The only real benefit is that you won't disturb your family or neighbors. I strongly disagree. It really depends on how well you know what ...

I was hoping by posting it here that some others would improve upon it! Actually, I never even used this thing except once for testing. Ended up just using it on one element, the lead IIRC. Not the entire track. Go crazy with it :D Ah ok! I actually really like the wind-up effect in the combi. I al...

Re: Endless Smile (VST recreation)
I'm not too sure of how the plugin is supposed to function but I'm assuming the idea behind it is high-pass with reverb and a little wind up effect. I took your combi for a spin in a project I'm wrapping up and there's too much of a masking effect rather than filtering and it is letting bottom end t...
