Re: Producing through "mastering" chain?
Having all these toys at our finger tips does require applying some discipline in order to get the best out of them (and most efficient use of time and resources). There are some great approaches listed above and I can only second them as learning to be disciplined in my approach to working in Reaso...

Re: Rant: What is up with the Apple Vision Pro poor cable management?
It's for the power pack and yes it does look ridiculous. Nintendo called and they want their Virtual Boy back... I used to be a huge VR nerd in the early 90s when the tech was first being explored. Seemed like a super cool idea. I've since matured quite a bit and can't really see it taking the world...

Re: How to recommend Reason Studios to your friend
Getting this back on track… fighting with VSTs in Cubase was exactly the reason I fell in love with Reason and rack, because with it the true power of “virtual studio technology” was realized. That got turned up to 11 when audio recording and the SSL mixer were added. Any missing bits (better reverb...

Re: Good Speaker Monitoring for Mix and Mastering or Sound designing
Get a sub? Presonus have a good cheap one. Does a sub add "color" to your sound? Or is it a good addition to a studio monitor setup? Like, having a better reference on how it would sound on a big system? If it's a decent reference sub and its level is properly balanced with the other speakers then ...

I concluded that it's better to use both headphone and speaker monitoring, especially for low frequencies in my genre.
but it's a bit annoying to choose the kick with a headphone.
What do you suggest?

Re: Pigments 5 Update
I had no problem with the update/install but have only run it once to test it - so far no issues here. Latest version of Reason, Mac OS. In fact, the first patch I tried ‘triggered’ a song idea so that’s why I didn’t have a chance to test it further! Cool, looking forward to kicking the tires myself!

Re: [Electronic/Synthwave] The Eye
Enjoying the track and yeah the compression is a bit OTT. Bass is lovely and funky! And perhaps a few too many musical ideas packed in? The intro is a bit weak IMHO. I'd pick a theme from later to intro the track? It doesn't communicate the mood IMHO. The vocal was also a bit buried in places? I thi...

Re: What did you just buy yourself?
Just traded in my ancient Proteus FX and Kawai K4 for a new Roland Juno DS for live performance with the on-and-off band I've joined. The old stuff had been sitting in boxes for a couple of decades and while they still sounded good their UIs are absolutely terrible for live work! The Juno DS has gre...

Re: finding similar preset feature
I dunno, I guess when I have a preset that's close to what I want I just tweak it a bit until it's what I'm looking for? Though I did go through a long process of building a sound bank that has patches I'm excited to use, so I guess I did a bunch of the labor an AI might have saved me :) A tagging s...

Re: Scarlett Input / Monitoring Question
I usually only use the back 4-8 inputs on my Scarlett 18i6, using external pres. But I ran out and am now using 1-2 in the front which are mic pres. When I run line level audio with the gain at zero I can hear the signal at full audio *without* activating monitoring, which messes up all my effects ...

Re: What dumb thing I am likely to have done to the master bus?
Well I did the experiment and now I'm the idiot! It *is* taking the output from the audio interface and not the master bus. Which means routing the control room out to the hardware interface interferes with the export and I would say, defeats the purpose of the control room outs. This is definitely...

Re: I've started to use "Control Room Out"
Just relearned this "feature" today. It hadn't tripped me up as I use an external volume knob instead of the control room volume which is just left at 0db. I'll see if I can set up monitoring from a different hardware output pair or else I'll have to start using the Bounce to File work around and se...

Re: What dumb thing I am likely to have done to the master bus?
After a shower, I've remembered why I believe this is true. I use the Control Room outs to connect to the Hardware interface, but my master bus is still correctly rendered on export even though it's not connected to a hardware output!

Re: What dumb thing I am likely to have done to the master bus?
Perhaps I'm mistaken but I don't believe Reason renders what is sent out to the hardware interface? I believe it renders was is on the Master Out from the Master Device. (Generally these are the same things of course!) But I'm not sure that items added after the master out are included in the export...

Re: Where could I take this unfinished track next? Feedback wanted
The drums (and effects) are giving it a bit of a dub reggae vibe, so I'd love to hear it with some reggae style beat under it. I think the bells might be good for the bridge/outro?
