Re: Apple M2 Studio stupidly powerful, M3 will be ridiculous

MME made no difference. I used the onboard realtek audio via MME in case the arturia minifuse asio was the issue, I got one less instance with MME.

Re: Apple M2 Studio stupidly powerful, M3 will be ridiculous

Reason ONLY utilizes performance cores on Mac. Maybe it use the same story on windows? Reaper does utilize all cores. This in case you didn't know. Keep on testing. Nope, only 16 P cores on Mac are being used vs 32 on Windows. Mac E cores aren't being used at all, so 8 cores free, yet all PC cores ...

Re: Apple M2 Studio stupidly powerful, M3 will be ridiculous

It never ceases to amaze me how stuff gets unravelled by just discussing about it. I would have never thought to try disabling cores till I wrote this topic. I just disabled hyperthreading and 8 E cores in bios, so now the OS sees 16 cores rather than 32, and I am getting identical instances of the ...

Re: Apple M2 Studio stupidly powerful, M3 will be ridiculous

Please if this topic interests you at all, do read this post as it's all about single core performance discovery and thread scaling. So, it gets more interesting. Of course I am streamlining to one plug in at present, but those who know me already know I am a dsp test addict so I will be broadly exp...

Re: Audio to midi

That's one dealbreaker for me that will prevent me (for now) using Reason as my full time DAW. No ARA 2 support. Melodyne just gives the most amazing audio to midi, and there are other incredible plugins like the SynchroArts ones that benefit from ARA 2 workflow. That said, melodyne WILL still give ...

Re: What do you think re control room in Reason?

The guy can't handle any kind of adult discussion about it, so I am just presuming he's either a troll or broken. He failed to read the manual correctly, I remember (either on youtube or on a facebook group) pointing out that the control room out go to separate outs and it's stated in the holy bibl...

Re: Apple M2 Studio stupidly powerful, M3 will be ridiculous

He is not wrong, chi individual, because the issue is the number and type of cores available. Whereas before the pro chips were add good as the max sans the GPU, they used to be the winning chip for audio and a Mac mini would be sufficient for most audio tasks. But apple changed strategy and slowly...

Re: Apple M2 Studio stupidly powerful, M3 will be ridiculous

I came across this vid a while back cause I was interested in how well M3 handled audio since I have an M1 Pro. His results were interesting. Someone smarter than me would need to tell me if his testing methods are valid. https://youtu.be/FSqX4bt9to4?si=lY5f19hUCQpAl6EK I'll watch it now and share ...

Re: Apple M2 Studio stupidly powerful, M3 will be ridiculous

My worry was single core performance. As we all know, your DAW can only be as fast as your fastest core, cause once one core is overloaded, you can have 20 cores free and it means nothing. It could be a multithreading issue in Windows actually. What I need to do is see how many I can get on a SINGLE...

Re: What do you think re control room in Reason?

Right, so regardless of the destination, my train of thought is correct in that CR out follows the analog mixer paradigm in that is controls audible level to the listener, nothing to do with mix level, which is controlled by master fader. I remember commenting on that video when it came out, a lot ...

Apple M2 Studio stupidly powerful, M3 will be ridiculous

Bit of a story here, but I'll put a TLDR; in the final paragraph for those who don't want to read it. Hi all, my wonderful and kind sister bought this for me on her interest free a month back (with her daughter's 10% educational discount too, yipee, and yes, Apple said it was OK for her to buy it an...

Re: Ekssperimental Sounds: TAPEFUNK M10 RE released

The workarounds I have are as follow for people who own the plugin 1) You do NOT need a wet/dry on this plugin, as if you dial the input right back and just compensate with output for level, that's much better than a wet/dry, RS audiomatic sounds nothing like tape whatsoever - it can be a wonderful ...

Re: Ekssperimental Sounds: TAPEFUNK M10 RE released

I've been looking into a report latency-function today. It should be possible but is quite tricky and has it's drawbacks. Each tape model brings it's own amount of latency. Along with the upcoming wobble feature it is also constantly varying (when wobble depth > 0) which makes it tricky to implemen...

Re: Wav to RX2

Doesn't Reason also remember the BPM when you export to a wave file? If you first export at 160 BPM and then reload the sample in at lower BPM session the sample should be converted to that BPM as well.. at least this is the case with 11.3 I think the OP's issue was the quality of the TS wasn't up ...

Re: Ekssperimental Sounds: TAPEFUNK M10 RE released

The bad is that there's some sort of latency happening and it's not reported to the reason mixer. For my purposes, this makes the device a no for me, and I am truly bummed to the hills and back about it. ... I really hope the developer takes this seriously and fixes it, and I'd be all over this one...

Re: ReFlanger - very nice modulation effect

Sadly this one causes non stop crashes for me. Out of every single RE I have currently installed (all demos bar Euclid rhythm, maybe 40 RE's currently installed plus all the Reason+ devices), this is the only one that does it, and it's consistent, so I truly do believe the issue is the RE. Even on ...

Re: Ekssperimental Sounds: TAPEFUNK M10 RE released

Oh man, this is such a shame. Good and bad news. The good news is that the CPU hit is about 1/50th of the IK tapes whilst sounding nearly as good. The bad is that there's some sort of latency happening and it's not reported to the reason mixer. For my purposes, this makes the device a no for me, and...

Re: Ekssperimental Sounds: TAPEFUNK M10 RE released

An update would be nice. Some extra internal settings to tweak would be ideal - even if it's relegated to the back panel to keep the current look. I actually love the simplicity. All I would want is an auto gain and I think it can be squeezed into a 1U rack device rather than double since it's so s...

Re: Ekssperimental Sounds: TAPEFUNK M10 RE released

I know this is a necro bump but this RE is really a very big deal. I just downloaded the demo, I wanted to see if there were any tape RE, and I am blown away. The compression is really good and the saturation is delightful and this sounds better than most vst/au/aax tape plugins I have tried. I was ...

Re: Subtractor can do wicked synth bass, and.......

If you master post processing like saturation, distortion, compression, EQ, delay, reverb, as a base and add many other effects, you can make most synth sound pretty good, like with bass, adding a bass exciter does help a lot. Like you said, these synths with minor modern add-ons like spread and un...

Re: Subtractor can do wicked synth bass, and.......

The main reason I created this topic is that the subtractor uses 0 cpu, hence you can go nuts and stack 20 of them and be fine on a modest PC. When I say 0, I mean 0 (like 0.01%). With Reason 12's rack device cpu load display features, even playing super long release pads and setting subtractor's p...
