Re: What do you think re control room in Reason?
are you writing with 1/2 because of the click only being on 1/2? The click is on the control-room output as well. However, the browser preview (samples etc.) is completely bypassing any routing and goes directly to output 1/2. So that's probably the reason to have them active during writing/composi...

Re: 5 pin VS USB MIDI - Any difference?
NOTE: IF you go with Neutron, there is only the USB option for MIDI IN if I’m not mistaken, so a moot point. Otherwise… If you’re going from a controller keyboard directly to a sound module, MIDI will be your only option in most/all cases (not 100% sure). But if you’re going to the computer and back...

Re: What do you think re control room in Reason?
So my final solution to this is to hook up the control room to 3&4 and monitor on 1&2 while writing music . Then I'll use Focusrite Control to switch the headphone out to 3&4 for the mixing stage so that I can utilize the send monitoring and it's also where I've patched in my reference track input ...

Re: UAD Verve
The arc may be different, but at some point it seems every audio software company decides to do a "one knob" device. I guess it's UAD's turn now!
Seriously, with the tech they have at their disposal they SHOULD be able to hit this out of the park. Anyone have time to check this out yet?

Re: Things I never noticed in Reason, or are new…
I just thought of another thing I missed, this one on the Combinator 2. I always assumed you can't change the order of devices in the Programmer, and it's true you can't change the devices/targets order – BUT I was just recently informed you CAN change the order of the Panel Elements (by entering "C...

Re: Things I never noticed in Reason, or are new…
I'm still on 12.7.3d18, windows 10 Machine. I can reproduce this issue. - Double click on the piano roll to select the notes, don't click anything else, just press ctrl + up / down. - Does the notes move ? I'm pretty sure this thread was about happy little details in reason, and I'm just showing a ...

Re: 3, 4, 5... steps on Combinator knobs ?
What's your approach to this - you can't assign a button to Thor's Run button, and if you use Thor's button and the Mod Matrix you have to hit the button twice for each step advance. What's the secret here ? (Combinator needs momentary buttons!) Just recorded a video about it, just need to render i...

Re: Things I never noticed in Reason, or are new…
Just found out a weird one today: In the piano roll, if you draw to select a bunch of notes and using use ctrl + up / down they move, as usual. But if you double click on the piano note to select the full line of notes, you can no longer ctrl + up / down them. /s I just checked, and it wo...

Re: 3, 4, 5... steps on Combinator knobs ?
It would be nice. A workaround I have done in the past is to use Thors step seq. So every time I hit the button in the Combinator it advances the step seq (in step mode) and you have a new value to work with :) What's your approach to this - you can't assign a button to Thor's Run button, and if yo...

Re: 3, 4, 5... steps on Combinator knobs ?
One small issue I've noted when using knobs to control stepped destinations has to do with assigning a knob to a stepped parameter, such as assigning a Combi knob to the RV7000 Algorithm selector (which has 10 possible settings). The "issue" is in how the choices are mapped, specifically the last op...

Happy to help with any questions! Hey Selig, Watched your stream. It was a very long time ago and I wonder if you've settled on a workflow that fits your needs? How much has it changed since? Re: Parallel Compression – what’s really going on?
And now there are developers that skip the ratio control altogether (which has to be matched with threshold and make up gain), reasoning that a mix control with automatic gain compensation is equivalent and much easier to use. Must have read Selig’s article. https://www.newfangledaudio.com/post/ooe...

Re: True(ish) analog (dual) mono?
Why record the same thing twice? Are you wanting to capture the different sound of the left vs the right input channel? For something to be "center" you need EXACTLY the same thing is each side. This is called the "phantom center" for a reason, and an interesting subject on its own (and the whole id...

Re: Steinberg discontinues vst2 for all users
One has to wonder if Cubase will be the last DAW with VST2… Cubase 13 already doesn't have VST2 support anymore. What am I missing here? I'm only able to report what I found here, I'm not a Cubase user myself: (did I misread this?) Cubase Pro 13.0.30 "Cubase supports the VST 2 and VST 3 plug-in sta...

Re: Steinberg discontinues vst2 for all users
That thread tells me nothing useful, or I didn’t go back far enough to find all the details. I don’t know how they can force Reason to drop VST2 support, but maybe there’s something in the SDK I’m not familiar with. FWIW, VST2 support was dropped in Jan 2022 (two years ago) according to this: https...

Re: Steinberg discontinues vst2 for all users
It looks like Steinberg has forced all developers in the current SDK for VST 3 to discontinue VST 2, both in the plugins and in the DAWs ! The whole thing should then be implemented with the next update of the DAW or the plugin. :( So in the next update of Reason or any vst plugin you...

Re: Pre listening a specific channel
If your interface has 4 outputs, you can do this with the Control Room Outputs patched to output 3/4 and using Send 8 as a PFL (pre fader listen) function. You will need to be able to listen to JUST these inputs with your headphones, so hopefully that is easy to setup with your specific interface. I...

Re: What do you think re control room in Reason?
It only works like a console if you have a separate pair of outputs for monitors (as the manual states), because output 1/2 is what gets bounced so it’s basically the “two track out” of the “console”, and CR is the “monitor out” (on channels 3/4). But I’ve never used the CR outputs myself, since I’v...
