Re: open source millitary percussion beats available?

Drumline for me was about the thrill of a large group in perfect (or close!) sync, the power of ‘many’ making the sound of ‘one’. I will admit I don’t watch drumline/drum corps videos myself, so it was more about the powerful experience for me than the actual music being presented. It actually taug...

Re: Arturia Announcement Today April 9 6pm CEST/12 noon EST

Pros: It's a synth. Most Arturia stuff is good. Cons: It's got a bad name. It costs $$$$. Did I mention the price? But, yes, Analog Lab in hardware form. Great idea. But that price. Did I mention the price? https://www.arturia.com/products/hardware-synths/astrolab-61/overview I was expecting someth...

Re: Would a mono cable splitter halve the volume?

I feel like I’ve been around a long time and seen just about everything there is to see in audio. But what the heck is “authentic/true dual mono analog recording”? Is there a “false dual mono”? Is there some historical reference being made here? I asked this on your other thread: why record the sam...

Re: Arturia Announcement Today April 9 6pm CEST/12 noon EST

So they did what some of us wish reason did. Put all their instruments on a standalone hardware unit. Imagine having all your patches like this to play with your other hardware without the computer, and every new patch you create on reason being easily transferred to the hardware... Monster combina...

Re: Arturia Announcement Today April 9 6pm CEST/12 noon EST

AstroLab is mentioned in the comments during the stream (but not mentioned in the stream yet as of 10 min into it), and did a quick google: https://device.report/arturia/astrolab-88 https://happymag.tv/astrolab-by-arturia-ending-the-loop-of-innovation/ Looks like Analog Lab in hardware form? https:/...

Ah, the fairly new, Japanese company (I thought that all this time) - now I see it's French, and founded in 1999. I live under a rock I guess. x D Their MIDI controllers seem interesting - finally a company that uses encoders. "Encoder" is such a generic term, what do you mean exactly? Which compan...

Re: open source millitary percussion beats available?

I have seen some amazing drumlines, miles over my head. Still, give me Roy Haynes, Max & Philly Joe. Drumline for me was about the thrill of a large group in perfect (or close!) sync, the power of ‘many’ making the sound of ‘one’. I will admit I don’t watch drumline/drum corps videos myself, so it ...

Re: Would a mono cable splitter halve the volume?

I know... so many questions... But yeah, since I wanted an authentic dual mono recording, I guess the best way would be to record from a hardware synth's mono out, into stereo. That's why I thought about, if I get a Behringer Neutron, then I'd connect a jack to its mono-out with a "Y" all-mono jack...

Re: 5 pin VS USB MIDI - Any difference?

I think there was an update to the device, and the newer edition, according to the manual, can handle DIN MIDI properly. Hold the presses, the MIDI input is actually on the front panel - odd choice (and why I missed it) especially since there appears to be plenty of room on the back panel for it. A...

holy smokes. not taps but certainly something to consider.
Drumline was my life from middle school into college. My friends went on to march in Drum Corps but I preferred the studio life (no regrets there).

Re: What do you think re control room in Reason?

are you writing with 1/2 because of the click only being on 1/2? The click is on the control-room output as well. However, the browser preview (samples etc.) is completely bypassing any routing and goes directly to output 1/2. So that's probably the reason to have them active during writing/composi...

Pretty sure that was one of Ekssperimental Sounds contributions
Indeed, i did the HD graphics for Redrum and included the animation of the fan for RS to use if they liked it, very happy it made it into the release :)
And for that, we thank you :)

Re: 5 pin VS USB MIDI - Any difference?

NOTE: IF you go with Neutron, there is only the USB option for MIDI IN if I’m not mistaken, so a moot point. Otherwise… If you’re going from a controller keyboard directly to a sound module, MIDI will be your only option in most/all cases (not 100% sure). But if you’re going to the computer and back...

Re: What do you think re control room in Reason?

So my final solution to this is to hook up the control room to 3&4 and monitor on 1&2 while writing music . Then I'll use Focusrite Control to switch the headphone out to 3&4 for the mixing stage so that I can utilize the send monitoring and it's also where I've patched in my reference track input ...

Re: UAD Verve

The arc may be different, but at some point it seems every audio software company decides to do a "one knob" device. I guess it's UAD's turn now! ;)

Seriously, with the tech they have at their disposal they SHOULD be able to hit this out of the park. Anyone have time to check this out yet?

Re: Things I never noticed in Reason, or are new…

I just thought of another thing I missed, this one on the Combinator 2. I always assumed you can't change the order of devices in the Programmer, and it's true you can't change the devices/targets order – BUT I was just recently informed you CAN change the order of the Panel Elements (by entering "C...

Re: Things I never noticed in Reason, or are new…

I'm still on 12.7.3d18, windows 10 Machine. I can reproduce this issue. - Double click on the piano roll to select the notes, don't click anything else, just press ctrl + up / down. - Does the notes move ? I'm pretty sure this thread was about happy little details in reason, and I'm just showing a ...

Re: 3, 4, 5... steps on Combinator knobs ?

What's your approach to this - you can't assign a button to Thor's Run button, and if you use Thor's button and the Mod Matrix you have to hit the button twice for each step advance. What's the secret here ? (Combinator needs momentary buttons!) Just recorded a video about it, just need to render i...

Re: Things I never noticed in Reason, or are new…

Just found out a weird one today: In the piano roll, if you draw to select a bunch of notes and using use ctrl + up / down they move, as usual. But if you double click on the piano note to select the full line of notes, you can no longer ctrl + up / down them. /s I just checked, and it wo...

Re: 3, 4, 5... steps on Combinator knobs ?

It would be nice. A workaround I have done in the past is to use Thors step seq. So every time I hit the button in the Combinator it advances the step seq (in step mode) and you have a new value to work with :) What's your approach to this - you can't assign a button to Thor's Run button, and if yo...

Re: 3, 4, 5... steps on Combinator knobs ?

One small issue I've noted when using knobs to control stepped destinations has to do with assigning a knob to a stepped parameter, such as assigning a Combi knob to the RV7000 Algorithm selector (which has 10 possible settings). The "issue" is in how the choices are mapped, specifically the last op...
