Re: Do you try before you buy?
Every time. As with some others, it might only be 30 mins of trying, at which point I decide whether it is worth spending more time with it or whether it is of no interest. The last one that didn't make it past the 30 min mark was Complex-1, not because it was bad but I just knew I wouldn't have the...

Re: What Are Your Most Wanted Features You'd Like To See In Reason
Yes, although my main reason for wanting it is so that I can use the Thesys step sequencer, which is like the Matrix on steroids. My god that looks amazing, what a mammoth plug-in that is. Might be on my future purchase list. Yep. If anyone could make a Player or RE that replicates Thesys, then I'd...

Re: What Are Your Most Wanted Features You'd Like To See In Reason
Was tricky narrowing it down but my number 1 addition would be midi VST support (without midi loopback methods). Is that the ability to use like "Players" like VST's such as Xfer Records Cthulu? Yes, although my main reason for wanting it is so that I can use the Thesys step sequencer, which is lik...

Re: This is how you push DAW envelope - Bitwig 3
Although it isn't actually a shortcoming of the rewire protocol because [the sadly abandoned] Project5 would still host VSTs when it was rewired into another host. Most other apps, including Reason, don't work this way for some reason.

Really enjoyed this one. Liked the changes of pace throughout and found the use of reverb, especially in the slower sections, very effective. Nicely done

Re: Advanced Step Sequencer
I'm hoping that the Props will add midi out to their VST support at some [near] future point, then I can get back to using Thesys, which does pretty much all of what that M4L addon does and more...

Re: Reason upscaling
As windows is going down hill with Win10 and the regular "upgrades" that either break functionality or add more spyware and Win7 going out of support soon. I feel the urge to also have Reason running on my main/serious OS (Linux). Esp. as I cannot stand the limited user interface of MacOS as a powe...

Re: Reason upscaling
I'd be interested to know what percentage of Bitwig users are running it on Linux; likewise, with Tracktion. Both of these are written using cross platform GUI and code bases, so the actual effort of maintaining a Linux port is likely to be small. Reason would likely need a massive overhaul for it ...

Re: Complex from Propellerhead
I really wanted to like this synth...I really did. I think the initial patch, Canada, sounds great...there are probably a couple more that I liked too but, overall, it just didn't float my boat enough to make me want to buy it - plus, I don't have enough time to learn to make my own patches, which i...

Re: Do you think reason will ever get a better sampler?
As a Noiiz subscriber, I have a lot of samples now available to me and I would love to see the Reason devices have additional slicing functionality built in. In Studio One v4, you can hold down the shift key while dragging a sample loop from Loopcloud, then drop it onto either Sample One XT or Impac...

Re: Trying new REs - what's your method?
I do a couple of different things: 1. I just set up a couple of RND devices and then try different presets...if something interesting takes shape then I will usually buy it. 2. I sometimes open up a work in progress song file (saving it under a different name first) and then try replacing some of th...

Re: Update on Reason 10.3 and VST performance
Not claiming to be an expert in VST programming (I'm not) but if the dev's code is already handling the exception, then why would Reason need to handle the exception itself? Read the quote again, you missed the word "incorrectly". No, I didn't. The quote suggests that Reason is incorrectly handling...

I can't remember the last time I used it either...mainly because I have too many VST and RE, so I just default to the ones I use most.
I really need to organise my extensions into favourite folders, so that when I need a filter with more, it is right there in front of me.

Re: Update on Reason 10.3 and VST performance
(Reason, it is incorrectly handling an exception that is already handled in our code. I'll contact their support again in regards to this issue.) Yeah, dunno what's bs about that. The dev has no reason (excuse the pun) to lie about it. What's the betting the said vst works fine in other daw's? Not ...
