Re: Complex-1 users
It’s not semi modular. There are no normaled connections. It’s is fully modular but limited to a selection of modules. Thor is semi modular.

Re: Complex-1 users
I think the premise is that it is a platform to facilitate personal experimentation rather than have stuff served up. I used it heavily when it came out and I was exploring the possibilities of modular synths. I think in many respects it is limited, as a tiny eurorack case would be. But you can lear...

Re: Ever made an unused plugins list?
The only thing I have bought and had zero use or utility out of is VK2. And I knew as soon as I bought it that I didn’t need it , and I didn’t need any more soft synths ever. Pattern mutator was nearly on this list, I got it with reward points. But I just found an incredible use for it as a practice...

Re: Blockhead DAW
I don’t really care, but my perspective is a bit different because it was the point where they were doing all that stuff that I decided that I wanted to buy into the platform. I was buying Into the idea of an interconnected mobile app with Compact and the social sharing aspect. Those things contribu...

Re: Blockhead DAW
https://youtu.be/at33phHJOcA?si=0GirfB0-5KCZbbyE This video sold me on Reason. It’s kind of sad, Propellerhead we’re so outward looking at the time. Alihoopa, iOS apps etc. It all felt fresh. Then the Reason Studios manoeuvre pulled down the shutters on all that and gave us a subscription model and ...

I would welcome the sequencer being included in RRP so you could use pattern select tracks.

Re: One for the guitarists
It’s the bane of new players. Practice is only way through. I would thoroughly recommend practice some scale patterns to a very slow metronome, This massively improves your dexterity and makes the chord claw hand a lot easier. Also learn chord triads, up the neck. You only need 3 notes and you will ...

I have an iPad with a load of music apps but I don’t find it a substitute for working on a laptop with a mouse and a Korg nano key layed across the trackpad.

Re: I'm in search of a spare Reason license. Does anyone have one you could give me?
I appreciate where you’re at . I had f. all money when I was younger. I think I got a Reason lite with a Korg controller, I had a look but I have lost the card for it. It’s reasonable enough to assume that someone will have one scratching around that they don’t need. Try on the ableton forum, they m...

An extra $1000 on laptop to get a $50 audio interface to work? I mean, get whatever laptop you like, but that seems like a skinny justification, lol.

I suppose it’s a legacy idea that they thought they could streamline for players. I like it though.

I should add, it was windows that said there is no app available to open the link. When it lets you choose another app or go to the windows store or whatever.

I have R10 and R12 installed so authoriser was present but not companion. There was no option to download the Re without companion. It was a trial though so maybe it’s just the trials need companion ?

Compulsory Companion
I went to trial a Re yesterday and when it came to download I wasn’t able to because I hadn’t installed companion yet. I’m on R12 so I just installed it and all is well. But I wondered, if you are not on R12 is it now impossible to get new Re.s?

Re: Reason Delay/Latency Problem
I’m no expert but I did a little reading about Reason delay compensation compared to Cubase a while ago. I gather that it is less robust due to the c.v stuff. Cubase is much stricter, hence why you get a gap in the audio if you add an effect during playback.

If you are going to go out and buy something, probably best to just buy a monitor made for computers.

I think that take is bit harsh. They were adapting to the market , they have a range of iOS apps , some legacy emulations and some new ideas. Then they legitimised the small hobby synth boom with the Mother 32 and Dfam etc. It’s the same story for all of western manufacturing, it just takes someone ...

I think it’s perfectly reasonable to not care about learning songs in genres. You can learn music and musicianship and totally nerd out about scales and harmonies etc.

You can slice it up and play the slices but you can’t isolate the individual sounds if they are playing at the same time without something like Spectralayers.

I don’t think Linux offers unprecedented performance on the latest Intel chips . They are only just catching up with the hybrid architecture.

Re: One for the guitarists
My first guitar was an Encore with a tiny body and a single hum bucker at the bridge, a kids starter sort of thing . I had it running through a Realistic (Tandy/RadioShack) amp that was entirely made of plastic. I wrote this song and recorded it on a four track tape recorder with a boss drum machine...

Re: What Reason version are you on? (POLL)
I’m on R12. And mostly RRP now. The only things that would convince me to upgrade to R13 would be a mega new native reverb and RRP improvements.
