Re: is it just me or is editing audio in reason a total bummer?

At the beginning, the Comp Edit looks overwhelming.
But comared to other DAWs like Reaper it's much more clear what's going on.

Maybe this video can help a bit. It covers most of the things you can do in Comp Edit.

Re: is it just me or is editing audio in reason a total bummer?

And be grateful for having a DAW which doesn't give you a crash headache. In this one sentence you have summed up why I am super-loyal to PH. On another DAW I once lost 5-8 hours of work on a track that I had meticulously worked on to perfection because of a crash. Not a lot of work tbh, but at the...

Re: is it just me or is editing audio in reason a total bummer?

My means of editing has been using 2 tracks and using the fade-in/out mechanism with clips, but honestly it's not a smooth process. Ironically I'd get less clicks when I simply cut and stretched clips so there's no space on the sequencer... This works until I get stutter from a repeated audio clip....

Does anyone have a good process for editing audio in reason? aren't we supposed to be able to do what you were able to do in recycle in this program? I think i might be missing some shortcuts...

I think with a Behringer BCR 2000 you can do pretty much the same in Reason.

Softube Console 1 as MIDI controller for the SSL mixer

I tried using Softube Console 1 as MIDI controller for the SSL mixer. It works so far for an audio channel that is selected in the sequencer by choosing <Other> MIDI Control Keyboard in the Control SUrface settings. Unfortunately this setting doesn't allow to send MIDI data back to the controller, s...

It shouldn't (by design), and this is one area where Reason has lead other DAWs. I've raved about this feature in the past, in fact. The concept is sometimes called "ghost sends", sends that keep on sending when you lower the bus master level. But Reason was the first DAW I'm aware of to address th...

it IS possible to have VCA faders in Reason !!!

So here is my approach. I use a fader in the SSL console. And I want to get the fader value as CV. So I take a CV knob and convert it to audio using Thor as described here http://www.reasonexperts.com/Audio-to-CV-in-Reason.html To get the output of the fader back from audio to CV again I use Thor as...

Re: VCA fader groups with RPG8.

I emulate VCA faders using the free RE Aftermath Audio CV8X4 CV Generator. See my combinator patch attached and feel free to use it.
