Re: Microphone for vocals - advice needed
For live, I'll use a dynamic mic like a Shure Beta 58 or a Super 55 (which has a Beta 58 like capsule). For studio vocals, I usually grab a large diaphragm condenser mic, a Shure KSM32 being my basic go-to, or other condenser mics for different voices. Sometimes I break out the Shure SM7B for certai...

Re: Behringer Studio 50USB 5" Powered Monitors with USB
Haven’t heard the Behringers, but I recently added a pair of JBL 305p mkIIs to my setup, and I like them a lot. My older 7in studio monitors are fine, but you know ... technology progresses and with the JBLs, I find it so much easier to just mix based on what I’m hearing and not having to constantly...

Re: RE user or RE collector?
I have it down to where my cash outlay is MUCH less than it used to be. I'm more patient about waiting for sales on REs that I want. I planned ahead for Black Friday and picked up a couple of Lectric Panda REs and Noise Engineering's Synth Bundle 2. But I also have MANY REs that never make it into p...

In Kompulsion, if you set the Length (duration) of a note to 100%, it will automatically slide into the next note.

Re: PSQ-1684 Rack Extension Appreciation Thread
It is so simple and effective but not that obvious. Did you know that you could apply some ongoing variations to the volume of your drums or any other instruments by modulating the velocity by the shift register value? Here´s the routing: Instead of using the shift register pulse use its value as a...

Why did you have to tell me the discount code works with the BF sale? Now I HAVE to buy these! Yup. Felt the same way! :P I was considering to participate in the new challenge... Re: Review by Stock Music Musician (with video): Selig ColoringEQ
I've had this EQ for some time, and ever since I picked it up, it makes it into every single mix. It's always in my master insert chain and often sprinkled around elsewhere in the rack as well, especially as an insert in a drums combinator. I haven't explored everything it can do (which is a LOT), b...

Re: Hardware vs Software
I'm not trolling, it's a real question. Can music produced on a laptop, really stand up next to true analogue audio run through a dedicated mixer? I'm putting this down to the way that Reason processes audio, it feels like the engine is limited in throughput. I use Beats by Dre headphones for most ...

Re: PSQ-1684 Rack Extension Appreciation Thread
That would be a really good add for switching PSQ scenes using the same instruments. In the meantime, I did find a workaround that sort of emulates this on a limited basis. I run multiple sequencer outputs (S1 - S8) from PSQ into one or more instances of Robotic Bean's free CV channel switcher, dep...

Re: Hardware vs Software
With just a Subtractor and a Matrix, you can start to approximate a pretty authentic 303/Acid sound. Also, there are plenty of tune-able 808/909 sounds to be found included with Redrum and Kong.
For more authentic analog mojo, I'm personally a fan of Synapse' "The Legend".

Re: PSQ-1684 Rack Extension Appreciation Thread
Thanks everyone for some great examples and discussion. This has been very helpful in helping me come to grips with PSQ. This RE is insanely powerful and I'm really enjoying the creative aspects of it.
And thanks to Lectric Panda for some amazing REs. Consider me a fan of your work.

I'm working on some new trance tracks in Reason, and for sound generation, I keep going to The Legend and the Noise Engineering REs for their character. Re: Just picked up a Novation Circuit this weekend.
So here's my live performance rig with 2 Circuits, the Arturia and an iPad running djay Pro.
The iPad with djay Pro is there to give me a breather once in a while from all the pad/button pressing, knob twiddling and keyboard playing, since my set next week is 2hrs.

Re: Just picked up a Novation Circuit this weekend.
The Arturia Keystep arrived today. ... So far, the Arturia is exactly the Circuit companion I had hoped for. Hey, cognitive, just curious how this pairing has been holding up. I'm picking up another synth with no keys and may want to grab a controller with sequencing features. I don't know of any a...
