Re: Getting old?
With 40 just around the bend, people calling me "sir" because of my gray beard hair, and modern day media coming to the point of making no sense at all... I'm not old enough yet to be complaining about this. Meaning, I'm not old. But I am. When did this happen? My musical tastes are actually going ...

Re: Common Mixing Mistakes and How to Avoid Them
“I always like to start my mixing day by listening to some records I know and love — ideally in the musical style I will be working in — in the seat I will be sitting in to mix, and over the same D/A converter,” says Doell. I think this is an excellent point. Along with all the others. Yeah, I coul...

Re: Your audio interface latency
Be aware that whats written in that little box is also not the ultimate truth. It's what the driver reports to the OS. They sometimes report bullshit, like when a USB interface claims to transfer 24 channels I/O with 4ms latency on it's 480MBit bus - right  You can test your real roundtrip lat...

Re: Jam Origin Midi Guitar Version 2.2.1- Vst
it really is incredible. it's not hard to set up to run the MIDI into Reason, and the latency isn't bad at all, as long as you keep the buffer at/under 128. I suppose that depends on what kind of CPU you have, but it's kind of a game-changer for those of us with guitar skills, but struggle with key...

Re: Propellerhead's priorities
I've been really disappointed with Propellerhead's priorities. Me too. Especially the VST priority which is now sucking up resources in all areas from support to the actual development of Reason  There was a time when updates just meant new cool instruments and FX to play with and a few impro...

Re: Jam Origin Midi Guitar Version 2.2.1- Vst
Thanks for the answers:) I think i refrain from purchasing it as long as the vst version does not really work in Reason. It doesn't even "really work" in other hosts, when you're automating parameters the plugin craps out after a while. I tried to use it in MainStage with some parameters mapped to ...

Re: Reason 10 too slow with VST
Propellerhead are releasing a VST-performance fix for Reason later this year (or early next). From what I gather it's pretty much a rewrite of how Reason handles audio internally. I just hope their marketing guys refrain from calling it "audio engine improvements" ;) It's what I have been talking a...

Re: Jam Origin Midi Guitar Version 2.2.1- Vst
The standalone version has a virtual MIDI output, no need to use it as a VST. Works fine with Reason, even the cheap „For Garageband“ version on the App Store.

I find it funny that you go on about the 5th, which is the one that is the least out of tune in pretty much all the tunings.Marco Raaphorst wrote: ↑21 Aug 2018I hate a perfect fifth, which sound less funky than an "out of tune" equal temperament fifth.

Don‘t use them. Reason runs all plugins at 64 samples buffer size for various reasons and UAD plugins hate that, you can even see that in the UAD meter.

Re: Our western harmonic system explained in a simple way (I hope)
Well yeah, many - especially classically trained - musicians only seem to hear "major, minor or blues" these days, kinda sad. It all went away for the sake of key changes.

How much "little" is is very important there - it can transform the whole scale and music completelyMarco Raaphorst wrote: ↑20 Aug 2018And with the minor third a little up, like in blues, it's fan-tas-tic imo.

Re: Our western harmonic system explained in a simple way (I hope)
Wat? The 5th is pretty much the only thing thats "correct" in the usual western scale and the same as in a pythagorean scale - which I assume you mean when you say "perfect" outside of the term "perfect fifth"? The scale that actually happens when you divide the string. That fifth is the only thing...

Re: Our western harmonic system explained in a simple way (I hope)
I must say a perfect fifth doesn’t sound so perfect to me. But I understand why the flat 5 interval (devil’s interval, major 3rd to a flatted 7) sounds better when the interval is wider which is why in blues the minor 3rd is pitched upwards Wat? The 5th is pretty much the only thing thats "correct"...

Re: Our western harmonic system explained in a simple way (I hope)
my 2 cents :puf_bigsmile: Our modern western system divides the octave into 12 equal steps: One octave equals 1200 cents. One semitone equals 100 cents. A major third equals 400 cents. A pure fifth equals 700 cents. A minor seventh equals 1000 cents. But in the overtone series, these values show up...

Re: The 6 dB of Headroom for Mastering Myth Explained
No, I was just referring to the article and the "myth" that you should leave xx dB of headroom. [emoji1] There ARE good reasons IMO to leave some headroom when exporting a mix for mastering - not sure how any of this is a “myth” unless one believes it somehow sounds better with more headroom than l...
