Re: What is your favorite wav to mp3 converter?

I have an old PC...Pentium III kind of old....but it’s got Cool Edit Pro on there. It is the all-singing, all dancing audio editor that has made Redbook CD masters for my clients for years. It’s also got a metric ton of awesome DSP resources built in, such as creating your own filters and effects.

Re: (Retrowave) SIDEWINDER - Using Only The Subtractor

I started the 80’s kick about 2-3 months ago, but I’m doing something more modern with it. Using the tools and sounds of the 1980’s to make modern electronic music (not EDM) that people can enjoy. Cool! Once I get the more traditional 80s sound down I'm going to start getting "modern". Although I'm...

Re: Automation Help....

Hey everybody! After studying the manual, I’m unable to find a way to add a particular MIDI CC without first recording that CC into the track. For example, if I want to automate CC22 by drawing in automation, I first need to send Reason CC22 from a controller and then edit that lane. Is there a way...

Re: (Retrowave) SIDEWINDER - Using Only The Subtractor

What machine(s) are these samples taken from? Is this actual hardware or is this a software sampler ( not that it matters in the least )? Interested in your method and equipment/software used here, ...As it stands it has that “80’s analog” sound for many of the patches... ...Hope you have the time ...

Re: u-he Colour Copy beta - BBD delay FX

Anyone else had a go on this yet? It's lots of fun - based on the Lyrebird delay in the Repro synths. Lots of different tones and flavours of delay to explore, and the UI is neat. https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=507480 I didn’t even know this existed! Thank you for sharing with ...

Re: SChes Tantra - $29 AT PLUGIN BOUTIQUE

they are not laid out the same but I would assume they are the same engine, especially when comparing the lofi and distortion fx. One could say the same for the chorus , flanger , delay and filter. I havent done a side by side comparision but when comparing to the sounds, they sound very similar. Y...

Re: (Retrowave) SIDEWINDER - Using Only The Subtractor

This is for my friends short film, specifically for the credits, where he has the credits running against an animated Outrun-like video game, only the car transforms into a fighter jet and flies off into the sky, kind of like the way the jet flies in the Afterburner video game. Who knows if it will...

Re: 1980’s inspired Synthwave track.

This would have worked with Blue Thunder or Airwolf or whatever that helicopter series was back in the 80's. Nice energy and drive and of course lovely sounds..... It was actually inspired by the classic first chase scene in Blade Runner....crowded streets in Oriental LA, Deckard frantically search...

Re: 1980’s inspired Synthwave track.

Nice with the song coming in like a punch in the face after the intro. I can imagine this song in an 80s action movie. Great sound, gz to a convincing 80s tune! What devices and refills did you use for this? I’m sorry I’m so late on the reply here I didn’t see this at all! Here’s the description fr...

Re: new Esselfortium vaporwave EP,「PC LOVE LETTER」

Well Done!!! There are a lot of standout moments here, love the guitar on the 3rd song, has a David Gilmour feel to it....think Momentary Lapse of Reason.... You are very prolific, and are always putting out new music. In a week you made an EP....fast work! are you a full-time musician or is there a...

Re: Sampling the Samplers....

NN19 *does* have a tone to it, but to my ears it’s doing its level best to be a clean sampler using late 90’s technology instead of late 80’s technology. There is a WORLD of difference between my Emu Ultra and my EPS....one very dirty unless you baby it the other super clean until you abuse it.... A...

Re: Sampling the Samplers....

One idea for the sweeping/detuned samples is to take 3-5 different samples and use the “alt” mode so that you can get the full random effect the original synths provide (really sounds fantastic IMO!). You can also provide versions with one sample per note for a key-trig effect (and to save space). ...

Re: Everyday Ideas

Today's thought ~ (Only for those who dare to think outside the box!) When it comes to panning, you better to use up the whole field. Don't start out with considering a 180 degree and especially not a 360 degree field, but rather a 90 degree one. Below 80 Hz, separate frequencies and center them (y...

Re: Everyday Genius (/Crazy) Ideas

No I mean confusing other people, making the discussion with them pointless. That you could avoid by making examples for your ideas. Some band splits and phase inversions are easily done in Reason - so PLEASE make some examples or at least audio files so we know what you‘re talking about. I will, i...

Re: Sampling the Samplers....

That’s actually my entire point. That’s what I use these old samplers for...I sample ONE note of something tonal and spread it out on the keyboard. That’s the “sound” I’m after....which is why I’ve got to multi-sample the sampler!!! I get the original grungy sound in the hardware, and to replicate ...

Re: Sampling the Samplers....

That’s interesting about mainstage. I do have a Mac mini that I don’t often use, but this seems like a great use for it. I’ve got both Sample Robot as well as the Emulator X3 (“synth swipe”) so it’s easy for me to automate the actual sampling process, but using a plugin in front of each sample (to ...

Re: Sampling the Samplers....

Where I’m running into the issue isn’t in taking the original samples....that’s easy, and the EPS has more looping options than you can shake a stick at....the extremely challenging part is recreating what the EPS does to the sound! It’s colored and can be pretty dirty. If Reason had an “offline pr...

I’ve seen this empirically in my own mixes, especially apparent when mixing in a big finely-tuned room where you can actually hear stuff like the SPL Vitalizer, etc....This should work in Reason but only on “E” mode, as the G series EQ is really a broad brush....say a sword instead of a scalpel :-)...

But the more you boost/cut, the more the bandwidth becomes the same with either E or G modes. At max...
