Re: Ruling raises songwriter royalties from Spotify, Apple Music by 44%

I don't get how so many of you cannot see the fundamental difference between theft (= taking something from person A so that person A doesn't have it any longer) and creating an unauthorised copy (= person A still has his something). I don't get how you don't understand that piracy is theft. It rea...

Re: Ruling raises songwriter royalties from Spotify, Apple Music by 44%

Sure it’s not a lot of money, but it’s still payment. In my mind, this is the exact WRONG mindset we all should have in regards to music streaming services, and let me explain. So from my experience, as someone new to creating music that I hope to make money with one day, as well as someone new to ...

Re: I think the "Is the Reason 3rd party market going to die with VSTs" question is answered.

Also RE and VSTs nowadays come with so many patches that buying additional ones isn't as needed whereas the the old Reason Factory bank had a fairly limited selection of presets. Nonetheless there are plenty of Refills that seem to be regularly added to the shop. I guess this is my feeling on the r...

Dude, this is awesome! It didn't even occur to me to think of the screen resolution would have a significant factor in performance on the SP4 platform. If even anecdotally, would you have a guess on how much performance you can squeeze out of the computer by changing to the various resolutions you ...

I think the "Is the Reason 3rd party market going to die with VSTs" question is answered.

Honestly, it seems to me that the market for Reason-specific devices and instruments is as strong as ever. Propellerheads seems firmly behind the continued development of the RE market and still are pushing forward with what the platform can do. I personally am over the VST segment, and use a few, b...

Re: Really hanging for this Peformance Update

Yes, but you said you can`t finish a song even if you work with bounced audio tracks. If I were to use nothing but Reason stock devices instead of third party plugins/Re's I would have no issues, I just wouldn't be able to achieve some things I can with 3rd party plugins. Bouncing to audio does hel...

Re: Really hanging for this Peformance Update

Yeah I have to admit that I am struggling right now as well. I run on a Surface Pro4 which isn't the highest end computer, but which worked really well in previous versions. As an electronic musician, my projects are all based on either REs or VSTs with heavy use of Kong/Umpf sampling and effects. A...

Re: How loud do patches need to be and how to measure them?

And VSTs seem to be so much louder by default than rack extensions. I have to keep reminding myself that any time I open a VST instrument, to turn down the gain for the channel by 6db or so.

Does anyone know why VSTs generally are louder?

Re: Hardware vs Software

So why not have some hardware AND software?? Try out the IK-Multimedia Uno synth. Hardware based analog with 2-OCSs, and both IOS and VST versions of the app to control the hardware with. The thing can make some really great sounds, and I can use it in Reason. The only drawback is that the MIDI sign...

Re: Dmitry Sches sale (Diversion, Thorn, Tantra)

Thorn is one dynamite VI. So easy to program, and it sounds great! Well worth it for $89. I could not agree more. The only way to make Thorn better was if it was a native Rack Extension. It sounds beautiful, and I find it really easy to work with. The effects section is amazing as individual effect...

Honestly, I think putting Lectric Panda and Noise Engineering devices together is what Reason really needs more of. PSQ and these modular devices is going to sound amazing, of that I am sure.

I remember printing out almost the entire Reason manual, somewhere around v3 and reading almost every section. Of course this was when I had more of an attention span, and of course before youtube was prevalent.

I love Reason!

Blamsoft VK-2 Model-D emulation question

I am playing around with VK-2 these days and really am enjoying that rich sounds that I can make with this instrument, but was wondering if others might have some technique tips on emulating older synths such as the Model-D, as i just can't seem to dial in that sound. I know the VK-2 isn't meant to ...

Re: Umpf Retro Beats

For me, it comes down to a question of innovation versus costs. I look at some of the devices that 3rd party devs are putting out (looking at you Noise Engineering team), and I see they are pushing Reason to go into great new places. An example would be the new area of players, but take a look at th...

Honestly, for better or worse, the Reasontalk mods and user community are a really great group of people. And the developers that provide the tools we all use are some of the best in the business.

Thanks all!

$125 CDN for a rebranded regular Umpf???????

It comes with gated and tape effects, but looses the compressor... on a drum machine.

Re: Individual input hardware mixer

Oh, gotcha! I see what ya mean. Yeah any multichannel audio interface will get you there and all the channels will show up individually in Reason. They won't be summed together before they hit your DAW as they would on a stereo output mixer type interface. Would you happen to know of an example tha...

Re: Individual input hardware mixer

So I guess my question isn't about the total amount of input connections, but how they show up in a DAW. With my Yamaha AG-06, there are a total of 6 channels of physical connections (XLR, TRS), but the audio is summarized as per the mixing settings and sent to the DAW as either a single stereo chan...

Individual input hardware mixer

(At the risk of getting flamed, I have searched this topic, but haven't come to a definitive conclusion) I am looking to see what others use as a method of inputting individual stereo tracks into Reason in such a way that each stereo input can be used as "Audio Devices"? So I have a few hardware syn...
