Re: Robotic Bean REs on sale through 27 November

I pulled the trigger on Resonans. I was not disappointed! You can create some wicked sounds by retriggering a note and playing with the modifiers, this is only one instance of Resonans: TY92ROC8 Even on normal plucky sounds, it seems like you can get almost infinite variations on a sound by tweaking...

Re: Looking for an RE that can emulate telephone or old picture voices.

This is exactly what you need: https://shop.propellerheads.se/rack-extension/phonetic-vintage-phone-simulator/ It designed specifically to emulate old telephone systems and their speakers. Futzbox and Audiomatic do a lot more different types of sounds and maybe you will get close, but nothing beats ...

Re: PCI-e interface choice for GL 4000

I have a GL3300 48 channel board they are great mixers. Motu PCIe-424 allows you to connect up to 4 of the motu 2408 devices (either mk2 or mk3) Plus the behringer ada8200s which have midas preamps are nice - you can use two of these using adat i/o with each 2408. Each box gives a total of 8 i/o. Th...

Re: Computer Component Rising Prices

I guess. My old computer was perfectly fine for other tasks. The purpose was to get better performance in Reason. I'm going to try and return it. Just over $3000 for Reason to still have glitches and give me the old "your computer is too slow" message. Which cpu were you running on your old rig? An...

Re: Computer Component Rising Prices

5960x or 6950x cpu second-hand with an x99 motherboard overclocked will beat the fastest i9 and xeon processors at stock speed, that is if you get a chip that can reach those speeds :) They are fairly easy to overclock, and i can throw a load of plugins and run close to the max without stuttering. I...

Re: New pc build...some opinions would be awesome

The 5960x is great, i have two systems using it. The x99 platform is stable and fast with ddr4 memory. It leaves room in the future to upgrade to the 6950x when it becomes cheaper :) I personally wouldn't buy a xeon as they are not overclockable and don't have high single-threaded performance. I per...

Modify the kbd parameter on any synth, it becomes microtonal. Or use the microtonal rack extension

Re: Do you think about a live 'performance' scenario when putting a track together?

Two computers running reason, thats the way "a guy called gerald" does it. Or, just have a track ready to play between loading live sets. You don't have to dismantle a track, you just have the main loop and you can fade in/out parts with the mixer, mute midi parts and play the live, tweak parts. I t...

Even when delay compensation is on, sometimes the plugin still creates a delay due to the nature of the effect.

Thats why TS-1 is great for realigning :)

Re: Thinking of Getting a Mac!

If you want to play with logic etc. just get an old 13" 2011 / 2012 macbook pro i5 or i7 for around 300 quid, you can upgrade the sata to ssd and the memory to 16Gb if you want later. It has firewire, ethernet, thunderbolt, etc.

Re: New Mac book pro

I've had that computer, i sold it on. It was the slightly faster 2.3Ghz version. Its faster than any of the macbook airs since it is quad core. It depends on what you are using, if you want to use a few low to moderate cpu consumption REs its fine. But don't expect to create a symphony of expanse in...

Re: STUDIO MONITORS: Your First Time

Interesting... Can you hear that at all? or is it just felt. Just wondering also would you have to adjust the low end on your monitors like you would if a sub was attached. The price of that is extortionate, wooo-f. You would get a great sub for that price. I'd value it at around 100-150 nearly 350...

Re: STUDIO MONITORS: Your First Time

One way you can stop yourself from turning the volume too high to feel the bass is to get a subpac - i recently purchased a subpac m2 - its a strap-on bass transducer, you actually feel like you are in a club. I make much better judgements on bass now i can feel it, and add volume changes on the bas...

Re: Thinking of Getting a Mac!

Something else to consider, Reason 10 using grain in a song. Buffer of 1024 on a mac, 2 bars dsp - crackles not usable. (2015 macbook pro 15" - i7 Quad core 2.8Ghz 16Gb) Buffer of 1024 on a pc, ALL bars dsp, loads of nebula 4, vst plugins, re's - no problem (5960x) Similar cost to buy/build - even 2...

Re: Thinking of Getting a Mac!

I have 6 macs with i5 and i7 processors, don't get one. The performance is not great for reason on osx - every newer version of osx seems to be worse performance for audio. Build a low-end x99 or threadripper system. You can, if you want, spend time installing "hackintosh" although i've not done it,...

Re: Reason's poor cpu performance

The macbook pro will throttle the cpu over time due to higher temperatures. Also, Reason runs better on a PC. Especially with VSTs, my mac can just freeze with a beachball when adding vsts (the latest softube effects for example). I don't trust using vsts at all on my mac! These are the full purchas...
