Re: Proton Granular Synth!

Its a bit of a cpu killer when using playing multiple long release notes (or rapid-fire retriggering)

Apart from that, its really amazing!

Re: Red Queen Z-Plane Morphing Filters

That reminds me.. I created a patch using two red queens emulating the Moog 914 fixed filter bank, which is basically band pass filters every half octave from 50hz up to 11khz.. The funky part is when i added a zplane to morph between all those filters to no filters at all :) https://www.youtube.co...

Re: Favorite FM synth in Reason and why?

I have them all, but really go for PX7 9 times out of 10 because of the brightness control, it makes FM cool again. Its like FM's version of a filter cutoff.

Scanning across the frames via the position knob, and triggering frames via cv (synchronous can only sync to tempo)

Re: Stop the High Pass Filters Madness

Putting a high-pass at around 30hz is something i will do on all sounds if i don't want to use an eq across the stereo bus for mastering (and a low-pass around 17khz) I find the mix tends to sound better, i use that as a starting point. Sometimes i will boost the low shelf then put a high-pass on it...

Re: Surprising performance with Reason on 12 inch retina MacBook

I have many macs, Reason 9 runs great on a 13" macbook air as well even though its an i5 processor. Its good for scratchpadding ideas, i would like one of those 12" retinas just to shove in a bag :)

Re: Recommendations for an audio interface

Motu are really good soundcards, they support the local operating systems volume functions, and you can get plenty of i/o via adat inexpensive Behringer ADA8200 which has on-board midas preamps as well (any soundcard with adat i/o can use this) allowing an additional 8 i/o. I have 3 896 interfaces, ...

Re: Reason 8.1 & above CPU Stress Test (songfile included)!

I'm making a list of all the results, the one thing missing is the actual score of the intel i7 5960x because the posted result was made using the beta version of reason 8.3, not a real release version. Anybody care to test that if possible ? I suspect it would run the whole song, the 5930x did it,...

Re: Looking for Chord Harmony

The AutoTheory Rack Extension does this, ok, it doesn't have a circle or a fancy interface but it does facilitate / suggest chord progressions just as shown. When you modify the smaller sliders underneath, it modifies the other chords to fit if it has to.

Re: Black Friday has started

Anyone using Fat Space on a regular basis? I like it a lot but I don't see me using it on most of my mixes. RP-Verb also does some nice room simulation, but it sounds completely different. Fat Space is for short spaces - great for dance/techno music, RP-Verb i find more useful for illbient/ambient ...

The sequencers on those old drum machines aren't exactly in time which is what gives it a certain groove.

Re: Need external soundcard to catch sound from many DAWs and send it to 1 DAW, all on same PC

The Soundcraft 22 MTK. You do get 22 channels of audio from the soundcard that can be routed back into each of the 22 channels as well as an extra 2 channels for the master mix. internal routing isn't that great, the audio comes back much quieter, about 6db in fact. It makes it kind of useless, real...

Hans Zimmer Masterclass

I signed up for the Hans Zimmer Masterclass, it seems there is about one person every minute signing up and leaving a message. Quite a few people with medium-sized studios posted messages, some with a bunch of hardware modulars, some are session musicians, some are already into orchestration. https:...

Re: Fighting with Reason

Most of the differences between DAWs are in the very high frequencies that only very young people, cats and dogs can hear.. even then the volume of those frequencies are pretty low. Yes, there are differences between daws, but not in volume or overall tone or sound if you are just playing /mixing fi...

Re: Is there any appetite for a new series of modular REs?

Softube modular has a terrible interface, compared to Reason.. Connecting wires reminds me of some archaic old modular software, i can't remember the name of it.. And to be honest, there is nothing special about it. The sound isn't anything to dream about, and i say that as an owner of it and heartb...

Mixing is a joke?.. I don't think so! There is plenty of high-end rack extensions for mixing available.

No PDC.. Well, that introduces additional latency anyway, better to bounce to audio and line up the waveform with snap off.
