Re: Izotope Neutron 4 just released with No VST2 support...
I'm in the same boat. I know to check with plugins from new developers (e.g. Toolroom Academy's new Infinite plugin) about VST2/VST3, but this is the first time for me an upgrade becomes VST3 only. This will soon become an issue. P.S. Izotope's website seems to have changed to saying Neutron is supp...

Added devices sometimes only get Left channel routed
Not infrequently, I'll have some issue with the stereo imaging of a track and then notice that some effect I added only has a mono connection (i.e. no cable in right channel on back). I'll have just dragged these devices in normally, so I can't figure out why it happens. It seems to happen with vst ...

Ability to turn off snap only whilst key is held down
I did a quick search and couldn't find anything on this. Using better touch tool on Mac (probably there are Windows equivalents), you can trigger a shortcut when you press a button down, but also trigger a shortcut when the key goes up again. This allows you to turn snap off whilst you press and hol...

Top of my list (in no particular order) stepped controls radio buttons horizontal faders flip switch toggles x/y pads sub preset mgmt for same combi patch per control programmer view add Combinator controls as targets 1.I would also find Combinator controls as targets to be very useful. 2. This dialogue box should be keyboard selectable
When organising presets, it's a pain that this dialogue box can only be controlled with the mouse. When working with favourites lists, having to constantly mouse over to the middle of the screen to change from cancel to remove makes the process less fun that it could be. It might also be useful if t...

Gotta love Reason's back compat.
I was just listening to a track I made in 2006 (or possibly earlier). I thought I'd search for the original rns file, and when I found it the project opened up immediately. No missing plugins, no missing anything - it sounded the same as it did over 15 years ago. It didn't even have Thor back then -...

Re: Previewing rex files - have they always snapped to song tempo and grid?
Thanks deeplink. I'd missed it, and just carried on using my old workflow. Over the many years I have maintained the discipline of converting drum loops from sample packs to rex, so I'm very grateful for this small update. It might seem like a small thing, but it means a great deal for workflow :-) ...

Previewing rex files - have they always snapped to song tempo and grid?
I've just been browsing some rex drum loops with auto play enabled. I noticed that they were snapping to time and to beat even in the preview pane. They also loop endlessly even whilst in preview mode. This is excellent. I could have sworn that it didn't do this before! I thought rex files acted the...

Re: Poor performance on M1 Mac (Reason 12)
We've been having these conversations and troubleshooting in another thread and it seems different folks with different M1 machines are getting different results. But I also have a Mac Studio Ultra and I have found that I need to uncheck both "Use multi-core audio rendering" and "Use hyper-threadin...

Rack Extensions - ability to hide
There are some Rack Extensions that I don't use at the moment, and some that I don't think I'll ever use again. I can delete them, but every time I update REs from the RE website, it downloads them again. I'd like the ability to 'hide' some purchases so that they don't automatically download every t...

My gosh: the new combinator!
I will always love Reason. The new combinator is a great addition but oh boy: configuring the front panel can be a real time sink. It doesn't force you to waste time, it's just there if you want it. In terms of actually making any music this afternoon, probably the only thing worse than fiddling aro...

Re: Players - send midi to combinator track
Most odd. For me, you can see it running through the process you describe: the instrument track gets created and the midi gets laid down. But once it's finished, both disappear!!

Players - send midi to combinator track
Try saving a combinator with a player and a synth. Save the combinator. Next time you load the combinator, Reason creates a track for it (but not for the synth it contains). After creating midi in the player, click send to track. It doesn't work: you have to manually create a track for the synth fir...

Re: Umpf - does it sound worse than redrum in default?
Yes, that's got to be right: there's no reason why samplers should all sound the same and indeed it could be useful if they didn't. Still: it seems odd that the Club version, surely aimed at a modern sound, dulls the transient whereas the Retro version sounds sharper, with a more precise transient....

Combinator - it should be easier to map VST parameters
In Combinator 2, it's easy to assign parameters to Reason devices and REs - just right click and map. I wish there was a similar way to do this for VSTs. The capability is kind of nearly there because the CV programmer has a learn function where you press 'learn' and click the button. Something simi...

Re: Umpf - does it sound worse than redrum in default?
What prompted us to suppose different "devices" playing the same sample should null, anyway? I mean, it's all software and so it's theoretically possible for them to null. But does that mean they should? Wouldn't different models of hardware device have their own character? I totally agree and it's...

I've just extracted a 250gb SSD from my an old computer - too small for too much usage but I did wonder whether I could set it up exclusively for Reason's scratch disk.

Re: Anyone still find subtractor irreplaceable?
I couldn't help thinking of this thread when I found the Ambilance pad in subtractor. I've got no idea how long it has been in the factory library but it's really a very beautiful pad with lots of movement and expression and it somehow never seems to sound the same if you keep it on loop. (And this ...

I heard back from Reason Studios. The orange on/off is the wrong way round - it is a bug. They say it will be fixed in an upcoming Reason 12 release.

Re: What's Happened To the ReGroove Mixer?
Regroove.jpg Just wanted to flag this: is anybody finding that when the Re-Groove mixer light is ON - ie. orange, the groove is in fact OFF? I've only tested this on channel A1, because I have FUNKEY D on some Drums on A1, and they become considerably less FUNKY when the light is ON... Finding this...
