Re: Arturia V collection 6 50% off
Did Arturia get bought out by NI? Why would it be sold on the NI web store?

Re: Do McDSP rack extensions (EQ / compressors) really work as they advertise?
Any clipped waveform will have more harmonic overtones. If you clip a sine wave it becomes a square wave with odd harmonics. So any time you push a signal through a compressor and the gain goes up you'll have some clipping.

Re: Kuassa Amplifikation Caliburn is in The Shop
@dimi
I think I just found a bug. If I turn cab B off and then turn cab A's volume all the way down it won't come back up again. I can dial the knob but no sound from cab A. I did not check if this happened to cab B as well.

Re: Softube vs Kuassa
I play through a JCM900 50w combo at band. We play mostly blues, Dylan and Dead covers. I really like this sim: it gets nice and warm when you crank up the gain on the clean channels. The dirty channels sound right to my ears as well. I picked it up after testing.

Re: SL 880 midi notes sustain
That problem you mention with the power switch has been an issue with every fatar I've owned. The solution was always to keep turning it on and off by tapping the power switch. It would take a few tries but eventually it would turn on correctly. After this I'd turn it off and on from the surge prot...

Re: Softphonics AmplifiRe in the shop!
I'm trialing this now. I can't find a manual on this at all. It would be helpful for the amp, speaker, and ambience models to have descriptions on the front panel. I have no Idea what a "Panther" or "venom" amp is but I know what a class A/B amp with EL84 tubes is. Speaker descriptions are equally c...

Re: compressor advice for Acoustic Guitar
Thanks for the example. I will test this out and get back with you. OK. That smoothed out the choppy acoustic guitars very well! Just curios on how you came to those settings. Are your attack, release and ratio settings pretty normal for acoustic guitar? They worked very well. I record many acousti...

Re: compressor advice for Acoustic Guitar
volume issues but also huge attack and little sustain and I wanted to smooth that out cause it sounded like chop chop chop. Try this with the mclass compressor: Attack 20ms - Release 150ms - Ratio 5:1 - SK off - After this threshold & Input gain set up so you are hitting 8db gain reduction at the m...

Re: compressor advice for Acoustic Guitar
What about volume automation? If a lever, compressor or transient Shaper doesn't do the job, try automation. It's sometimes better than crank up the controls of a device, especially if there are just volume issues. You can also try to build your own leveler. volume issues but also huge attack and l...

Re: compressor advice for Acoustic Guitar
The problem is that the volume is choppy and when I'm applying compression I was getting too much compression artifacts. Since last night I took another look at the RE2A which is my usual go-to compressor because of it only having three controls. I set it to just capture the peaks and that made a di...

compressor advice for Acoustic Guitar
I'm having issues with my compressor settings for strummed acoustic guitar. This is a real acoustic guitar and not an A-list rack extension or samples. Also, if there is one that's better for this job than another or you have had success with "x" I'd like to hear about that. Leveler worked like F***...

Reason Drums samples cutting off
Having an issue with Reason Drums (version 1) where the tail ends of hi hats and ride cymbals get cut off when played fast. seems to only affect the Room Mic output. Anybody else have this happening? I've owned this refill for years and only noticed this behavior since the latest version of Reason. ...

Europa strange envelope behavior
Play a chord and then add another note (C maj then add the 7) then take away that added note and the envelope finishes on the entire chord. This is not right. Is there some setting I am not aware of that is making this happen? It does it even on the reset patch. Never mind I figured it out. I'm a di...

Re: Sample Rate + Buffer size = result?
Hey Alfredo I had similar problems but much worse with the Behringer UMC1820 and exchanged that for the Scarlet 18i20. clicks and pops are gone on my system using the Scarlet with the same settings you have. Grain is CPU hungry in the spectral grain mode. see this thread https://forum.reasontalk.com...

Re: Grain crackling
Update: Exchanged the Behringer UMC1820 for a Focusrite Scarlet 18i20 (second gen) The Focusrite box is substantially larger and heavier than the Behringer. More electronics inside and proper internal power supply. No more crackling of song playback and no crackling while playing Grain from a contro...

Re: Vocal whispering FX using Grain?
I would think not. you'd want to start with a wave that was more like pink/white noise and filter that with a formant filter. Starting with a vocal sample that has little wind/whisper noise will only result in a pitched sound.

Re: Grain crackling
I'm going to shell out the extra $200 and get the Focusrite Scarlett 18i20. Good luck. I returned two of those. Couldn't handle what I was throwing at it. So weird. I had zero problems with my old 2 channel M-Audio mobile pre-usb. Must be that I'm now running at 24 bit or that the interface has 8 i...

thankfully I was only a couple of days past my 30 day return window at Sweetwater for the UMC 1820. I'm going to shell out the extra $200 and get the Focusrite Scarlett 18i20. I was getting a bit of crackling playing back my reason files as well so hopefully this will solve my problem. turning down ...
