Re: Meanwhile at Bitwig Studio.. Part 2. The revenge.
Bitwig is a close relative of Ableton, so if you like Ableton you'll like Bitwig. Bitwig is a much smaller company, but innovating the most of any DAW at the moment. Bitwig is Ableton but with the CV paradigm of Reason, only much better. Bitwig has quite a few advantages over Ableton, especially if ...

Re: Meanwhile at Bitwig Studio..
After a bit of thought at the time, their upgrade model makes sense to me. You can still opt to pay the upgrade fee at the same time that a new full version is released, or every other full version, or however you like to do it. It's just you don't *have* to. You don't have to worry if you upgrade n...

Re: Meanwhile at Bitwig Studio..
I think one of Bitwig's appeals was that if you bought the full DAW, everything was included. This seems to be laying the groundwork for a Lite/Standard/Suite type arrangement. Maybe 16-track-No-Grid/Full+Grid/Full+Grid+FX Suite.

Re: Kuassa VVV
Funny - I correctly guessed the amp just from the title of the thread. I think my internal logic went something like this: VVV. Any similarly named amps? Well, the was the Peavey Triple XXX. 5150s were originally Peavey amps, before Van Halen started his own brand. EVH is also adjacent to VVV. The 5...

Re: Does the SSL spectrum EQ have linear phase?
Dan Worrall has recently done a good video series about parallel EQ tricks, and the first video has a good explainer on phase etc. Highly recommended. (The 2nd video has some great tips for fattening up drums)

Re: Korg Drumalogue or LXR Drum 01 or 02
The Drumlogue has 3 engine types - 4 analogue voices, digital multi-osc as on the other logue synths and the NTS-1, and samples. I read the sample memory is very small so clearly sample voices isn't the main aim.
There are already a couple of good deep dive videos on it from Loopop and BoBeats.

I would say it is only bringing information about SA that may be pertinent to members of this community. In the mean time: https://twitter.com/SpitfireAudio/status/...

Vinyl Distortion in Ableton is the only comparable device I can think of, in terms of modelling physical groove/needle effects, although not so full featured.

Re: Any comments for NI FM8 for 12 bucks?
FM8, Massive and Absynth are all classics, insofar as any software synth can be a classic. They each defined whole subgenres. I've always been curious to try Absynth too, although Nostromo could probably do a similar job. I'm sure Massive has been outpaced by lots of synths that came since (that it ...

Re: A laptop for Reason 12 what would u get and why?
I have a 17" laptop PC and I'm a real cheerleader for laptops with big screens. When I upgrade, I will have an honest look at how often I actually take my laptop out of the house and use it elsewhere. Tbh it happens *at most* once a year. Probably less than that. So when I upgrade, I think it's like...

Re: M1 Pro with 16gb.
I don't think music production needs tons of RAM unless you work with big sample libraries a lot. 16GB should be fine.
My (8 year old) old laptop has 32GB and I've never run out of RAM. Also I think today's computers are better tuned to use their fast SSD system drives as working memory.

D16 Phoscyon 2 is out!
Do your trying here: https://d16.pl/phoscyon2
I don't know how it compares with ABL3, but the sound engine is all new and the interface is very comprehensive.
If you have other D16 stuff you'll have a crossgrade voucher - mine makes it €69.

Re: Is this as good as iZotope deals get?
Given that Traktor isn't a production environment, but DJ software, the inclusion of Ozone Maximizer seems a bit redundant - as in, DJ software is mainly dealing with finished tracks which have already had all the mastering limiter treatment. You'd just be double-limiting them. I can see the value i...

Re: Is this as good as iZotope deals get?
Just had a look at that roadmap - looks to be clearly about a Traktor-as-a-service subscription model. This fits with the Chris Randall Twitter thread I mentioned here re. the FM8 deal, about the venture capital-owned new NI/Izotope/PA conglomerate extracting maximum money for minimum innovation goi...
