Re: Reason 10.1 - New Players + Europa Sample Import - Out Now!
Maybe I just don't get it, but I've always programmed my drums directly in Reason's sequencer lane, where I have access to all of Kong's pads, can make sequences any length, have full control over velocities, can slide and shuffle, and make pattern blocks. If I want to apply a pseudo probability fu...

Scales and Chords question
So I'm currently playing around with the Scales and Chords player device. I'm only wondering why the C Major chord starting at B isn't B Diminished, which consists of the notes B D F. Instead Scales and Chords makes it a chord consisting of the notes B D G - i.e. Bm#5 according to screen on the devi...

Re: Layers wave edition
it is just "inspired" No, the manual says the following: "The multi-samples in Layers WAVE Edition originate from the legendary Waldorf Wave, a monster hybrid digital- analog wavetable synthesizer that was built only a few hundred times in the mid 90s and used by the crème de la crème of synthesize...

Re: Layers wave edition
I'm having this extension on trial but I cannot seem to find samples that sound anything like the sounds heard in some of the Waldorf Wave demos on YouTube. Does this instrument only have a selection of the sounds from the real instrument? In that case Layers is definitely overpriced.

Re: Layers wave edition
Nice surprise this one. These Layers devices may not be true synths, but it's so easy to come up with inspiring and great sounds really fast. Many otherworldly samples to play around with. My only gripe so far is that Propellerhead haven't yet made a mini tutorial for the original Layers device. Not...

Re: Reason 10 problems on High Sierra 10.13.4?
I'm still on Sierra, performance is bad and unreliable, but reluctant to upgrade to high Sierra. Would there be some general performance gain in reason for me to upgrade to High Sierra? (with disregard to this possible problem in 10.13.4) I think music producers are better off not upgrading too soo...

Re: Reason 10 problems on High Sierra 10.13.4?
Do others see the cursor lock up entirely and the machine get stuck repeating the same "blip" of audio for a few seconds? If so, I've seen the same thing. It's odd, as there's no hint of high CPU usage until the sudden spike. Yes, exactly. I thought it was the recent Reason upgrade, but it may be 1...

Re: Reason 10 problems on High Sierra 10.13.4?
After updating to High Sierra 10.13.4 I've also noticed that my system sometimes hangs for a few seconds when saving reason files or quitting a loaded song file. Neither that were issues on the previous OS version. I upgraded to Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.4 and just threw an A-List Classic Drummer on ...

Re: Why Reason?
Because it's the first one I tried and grew comfortable with. Fortunately, the self-contained package also happens to fit my preferences rather well. I find the myriad of separate windows in some other popular DAWs quite intimidating to look at, whereas Reason for the most part is all about alternat...

Reason 10 problems on High Sierra 10.13.4?
I updated my OS to the recently released High Sierra version 10.13.4, but ever since then I'm experiencing occasional but rather frequent performance hiccups in Reason 10. The DPS meter will suddenly max out for no apparent reason and the system will freeze up for 10 seconds or so. The "computer too...

EDIT: Question deleted. I've identified the blunder which made the overall volume of my mix very low (bad EQ settings on drums).

Re: Why do you use OctoRex?
I typically use it for some additional percussion above a ReDrum groove. At other times I find a loop to build a foundation around, perhaps with a bit of tweaking to remove the worst sense of guilt from not creating the groove from scratch. Probably nonsense to think along those lines, because as me...

Re: Using the Maximizer
The obvious answer is obviously be to keep the volume down, but I would still appreciate some feedback here. I'm inexperienced in the mastering department, but yesterday I wanted to experiment how mastering could spice up one of my productions. Even though my near-field monitors weren't particularl...

Re: Klang, Pangea, Humana - Anyone using them?
There are some nice samples spread across all three devices, but so far I've found no use other than just playing around with them every now and then. Truth is there's little purpose for these samples in the electronic soundscapes I usually aim for. That's not to say I don't use choirs from time to ...

Has anyone been able to identify the preset containing that lush string heard in the second half of the official trailer? Regardless, many of these sounds remind me of the first Oxygene album, so that was enough to warrant my purchase.

Re: Propellerhead introduces Layers synth.
Layers is without doubt expensive for what it is, but I still think it adds great value to the rack. It's quick and easy to obtain some vintage fatness and nearly every sample combination across the four layers showcases its potential. Since I have a soft spot for these kinds of sounds, I'm more tha...

Re: Possible issue with sound card?
If you get the jack converter for your headphones you can start to rule things out. i.e. Monitors and Cables So when you go to the store to get your converter you can also test on there demo setup :) Make sure you have the latest drivers. It appears there are no drivers for macOS. It's plug and pla...

Re: Possible issue with sound card?
Can you test with headphones? The headphone socket on my sound card is bigger than the jack connector on my headphones. I don't have the missing piece to make it fit. I have brought up the issue on the M-Audio support forum and I also got the headphone suggestion from a user over there. I can't che...

Re: Possible issue with sound card?
With regards to the deadzone, I have speakers that are 5W minimum, so you need a little bit of power to get them going. Yes, my subsequent research also led me to believe that this is normal. I just had a quick look at the HS7, they have a built in bi-amp so I would have thought there would not hav...

Possible issue with sound card?
I just installed my first set of studio monitors and I have noticed some puzzling low-volume behaviour while adjusting the volume knob on my M-Audio M-Track 2x2M sound card. Two questions: 1. The volume knob on my sound card has a deadzone meaning that the knob must be turned up 10-15 degrees before...
