Re: Recording audio into reason when rewired to ableton
Not possible. Reason can only slave to Live and doesn't offer an audio input when doing so.
Weird thing is Live can be a slave or master when using rewire. Never understood why Live offers better rewire support than Reason.

Re: What can I do about DSP load?
I believe the only good test is this: - compare a song containing the same material (best would be: a heavy track including some general RE's like Softtube Amp and/or Audiomatic) - set the same latency - set the same CPU Usage Limit in Reason - listen for glitches - note where (in minutes and second...

Re: What can I do about DSP load?
I wished I stayed on Mavericks, it was better for my laptop than the Yosemite performance wise, so I have not dared upgrading to El Capita yet. Is it easy to switch off Retina mode? Havent googled it yet. I have had the same thought about that not all is right with the Reason app on Mac, using an i...

Re: What can I do about DSP load?
I am using a MacBook Pro retina late 2013. I notice that some PC's with Windows 7 are even loading Reason faster than on my machine. For years I have been active on the Ableton forum. For years the PC's were faster. I haven't really checked this carefully on Reason but I notice in general a huge per...

Yes someone asked me about it. I will add these to the manual.tibah wrote:I know you just released your Rockmen ReFill, which is based on using this concept.
Was there a demand for this kind of tutorial? Seems like a very basic thing. No offense.
It's difficult to think about an average level of knowledge.

Stacking Combinators: how to
I wrote two blogposts about stacking Combinators. One for version 7.1 and older version:

And one for the new browser which was introduced in Reason 8:

Re: Rockmen ReFill is now available!
Insta-buy. Marco, thanks for spending so much time developing tools for guitar players - your love for the Pulverizer really shows here. I only just started playing around with it and I got some great combos of tones, running combis in a series. I have to say I was surprised that you didn't use a s...

Re: Almost ready for release: my Rockmen ReFill
Btw Feminine is a Thor patch I did. It's included in the Factory SoundBank. Go check that one. It's very feminine :) Is that post-R5? In this PC I have at the moment only R5 and I only find "Female Choir" and "Female Voice SQ" No should be Reason 4 because Thor was then introduced. It came with man...

Re: The “problem” with impulse response for amp cabinet sounds
I love that "old" sound. That unpredictable sound. It's warmer imo. That Stevie Ray Vaugh tone. Strat in Neck or Middle pickup and getting that fat but bell like tone. I tried so hard to get this tone using any amp sim available. This is why I decided to roll my own patches and see if I could correc...

Re: The “problem” with impulse response for amp cabinet sounds
Interesting! Selig, is in your opinion an impulse response capable of totally capturing the sound of a speaker? If everything is totally linear it should be capable to do so. In my experience all amp simulators have "certain dynamics" which are sounding different than a speaker which is mixed. And ...

Re: The “problem” with impulse response for amp cabinet sounds
Selig explained it perfectly. Sure a speaker/amp combination has "compression" characteristics but they are defined by the electric limits of the amp and the physical limits of the swinging coil. You hear this myth about rooms sounding different at different volumes every once in a while but I poin...

Re: The “problem” with impulse response for amp cabinet sounds
Have you never noticed how volume causes a room to resonant differently? Below a certain point, no issues, above it things start to change. Some material works as an acoustic compressor, absorbing sound at certain levels and frequencies. [...] Their is compression caused by a speaker cabinet. Compa...

Re: The “problem” with impulse response for amp cabinet sounds
In your article you kind of bounce back and forth about speaker breakup. First (and finally) you say that the breakup adds nice tone but when you talk about the Palmer box you say that the lack of breakup adds dynamic which you find nice as well. Yes I like that tone as well. It's not the same as a...

The “problem” with impulse response for amp cabinet sounds
Using an impulse response might not be the best method for simulating the sound of a speaker cabinet in my opinion. You can read it on my blog:

Re: Rockmen ReFill is now available!
Are you purposefully misspelling this because of copyright issues? Well the Rockman inspired me. But I didn't want the SOUND of it. So it's sort of a weird link... I have a lot of respect for Tom Schultz for designing that pioneering device. And remember it clearly when it came out in the early 80s...

Re: Line 6 Patch Re - Creation Help for £
Couldn't load the orginal Line 6 patches because a model was missing. Not sure how it sounds. Probably the Line 6 cabinets have less ambience than those of Softube Amp. Although a model was missing the sound sounded very direct. This Combinator patch I made sounds super close when using it on the so...
