Re: The breakthrough of sampling: 1985
Yeah, the Gotek is a fantastic solution and very cheap too. Gives you a USB memory socket so you can drop libraries from your computer very easily. I have this for my Akai S2000. I've just not found any disk images with sounds but I guess that's ok, but it would be fun sometimes to get some Akai-pro...

Re: Will there be a need for a new Refill Packer?
As someone who has spent years maximizing the benefits of this very fine file management, I find the reasoning extremely unfounded and poor. By packing my hard work, I can deliver a uniform and professional product. The user can enjoy a file that is compact and exciting to browse through inside the ...

Perhaps the other disk is full? Reason stores snapshots of on-going work as well. This disk can be selected in the preferences. You can also try "save and optimize".

Re: 50th anniversary coming up
Ok man, thanks a lot and thanks for the feedback on that as well. Just a quick comment, no I didn't mean 5G but wifi also has a thing called 5 Ghz, as usual wifi settings are 2,4 Ghz. But nevermind. I've got to work!

Re: 50th anniversary coming up
curious... 1. what date was r2 released? 2. are the sounds in Bitley's WBFR2X Additions included in R2? 3. if these are extra sounds how many sounds are in Bitley's WBFR2X Additions and what is size of refill? I found no information on it on that page. A good cause for updating the site, thanks! 1....

Re: 50th anniversary coming up
Um, strange, never heard anyone have issues with this actually. Have you got plenty of available hard disk space and no disk faults? Perhaps try a search on the disk with the built in hard disk tools (applications/tool applications or similar) to see you don't get any error reports. SSD drive? Netwo...

Re: The breakthrough of sampling: 1985
Yes, in ways. In another way the first greeting cards with samples were modern day Fairlights too. But to create great music (like Art Of Noise) you need to use what inspires you. Some people still prefer the original CMIs. Akin to, perhaps, running a tank simulator vs a real one

Re: The breakthrough of sampling: 1985
Huge difference but all Fairlight based software solutions are fun to combine as then you can have the fun audio tweaking possibilites these expensive (£80,000 in today's money) machines had. The refill contains the world's largest Fairlight sample collection and adds a lot more than that, thus the ...

Re: Can I control two softsynths on two keyboards separately live?
That's a good tip I had no idea about, will be cool to try that. Can I lock a midi input as well as I'm using a 8 by 8 midi interface?

And you are telling that to me? Seriously.

I will however always remember that 1985 was the year sampling was breaking through commercially and became known to us kids on the street. It became the buzz word in every pop magazine.

Re: Can I control two softsynths on two keyboards separately live?
Not easily but using a combinator you can set the key ranges and transpose down say four octaves on one keybed to play a different sound there. Not the ideal solution for live playing perhaps...

Re: 50th anniversary coming up
No worries at ALL! Supporting small developers always gives huge karma :) By the way, going to Bitley On Spotify to check out some of my zillions of tracks is, besides getting my sound libraries, the finest form of appreciation you can ever give me.  Big thanks in advance for that. Re: The breakthrough of sampling: 1985
Sad to hear that, the Mirage was apparently used a lot by Jam & Lewis on many of Janet Jackson's hit tracks. As well as on Good Life by Inner City of course. Beatles & the Mellotron is blueprint yes but the Mellotron was the analog forerunner to digital sampling instruments. It would not let you sam...
