Re: You know what the whole problem is nowadays about making music?
The hard part is putting together a full track that's interesting to listen to from start to finish. And this is exactly what I could do when I was just using an Amiga or a W30. Or early Reason. I just can't do it anymore. I get distracted by the whole plethora of instruments and whatnot. Now you s...

Re: Way to bounce mix channels WITH sends/returns per channel?
All approaches have trade offs. It's a matter of understanding them and being able to CHOOS the one you want/need. If there's only one available, there's no choosing :) Luckily all ARE available - some DAWs are quicker than others, but all options remain available. Not sure what limitation you may ...

Re: Main Mixer evolution
For me, the only things missing in the SSL-mixer are solo-in-front and VCA-channels. For both, I'm thinking about how I can solve this with available REs, but I'm not there yet. My guess is the “Reason Way” for this would simply be groups = busses = show/hide = folders. That would mean that routing...

Would be cool just don't call it ai. There's nothing intelligent about that stuff. Anyways I would love some patch similarity search thing. Or partnering with the Sonic charge guy again and implementing patch generation from samples like synplant does but using all of reasons synthesis capabilities...

Re: How Reason's coarse knobs & sliders work?
I noticed this by chance and ever since then, I learned to stop looking at numbers  Yup. That's one of the things I really like in Reason. In other DAWs I seem to obsess about the "values" (compounded by my mild OCD, which only "accepts" specific values, e.g. 0.5dB, 1dB, 1.5dB, 3dB, 6dB, e...

Re: Main Mixer evolution
I'd rather the busses to be collapsible (and pinned to the right / master). Folder tracks is something that would be useful in Sequencer - 1) to mirror the busses, 2) to collect together all the individual tracks that in every other DAW "belong" to the main track: channel automation, inserts automa...

Re: Any way for Reason to record Stereo Mix/What You Hear and/or use Integrated Mic as input source?
On a side note, this thread inspired me to do something to my "singer/songwriter/piano" template and evolve it to a "singer/songwriter/piano/sample everything" template, connectig the master to the sample input, trhough a spider 1:4, and adding the MME driver loopback channels i have configured in ...

Re: How to recommend Reason Studios to your friend
I guess best way to recommend Reason STUDIOS to a friend would be to send them a link to careers page: https://careers.reasonstudios.com/ How TF people are getting this wrong all the time?! I never heard anyone say "I use Steinberg GmBH" or "I make music with Image-Line". “Ableton” would like a word…

Re: Any way for Reason to record Stereo Mix/What You Hear and/or use Integrated Mic as input source?
Ok, I guess it depends on what you call the "stereo mix", the audio coming out or Reason or any audio from the computer including web pages/YouTube. I don't think you mentioned your OS, but to include computer audio on Mac just make an aggregate audio device consisting of your interface and internal...

Re: Way to bounce mix channels WITH sends/returns per channel?
The negative of using parallel channels is you are not always sending the same signal to the FX as you would when using inserts. This is because the parallel jacks are “pre everything”, and the inserts default to “post everything” (but also COULD be pre everything except gain/polarity). So if you u...

Re: how plugin windows can be closed with esc - mac - Karabiner takes 3min
This looks like a Mac application, no? You can also program the ANY key in system prefs to do this, with the benefit that it only applies to Reason if you don't want it to apply globally. That said, do you know how this differs from Keyboard Maestro, functionally speaking? If only there was a comman...

Re: Way to bounce mix channels WITH sends/returns per channel?
What I'm looking for instead, is NN-XT 2 + FX1 processing and Glocks + FX1 processing separately . THIS! As a former Live user, I've been needing the feature in Reason for years now. It would be of tremendous help to me for keeping things tidy when mixing stems. I just find it easier to mix with th...

Re: (electronic) String Theory
The resulting stereo effect is quite nice. But, a lot of music these days is listened in mono, as smartphones and smart speakers are all mono. I agree and think the bass sounds super cool as is, and therefore would leave it as is. What I mean, bass response on an iPhone or smart speaker isn’t stron...

Re: Any way for Reason to record Stereo Mix/What You Hear and/or use Integrated Mic as input source?
I don't know if I have the exact solution, but a couple of thoughts. My hardware (Focusrite and Apollo) do this and "what you hear" audio from the computer (web pages etc) appear at a certain input in Reason. As for the mic, that's a tough one and I almost would trust the phone recording as the quic...

Re: How Reason's coarse knobs & sliders work?
For some devices, the parameter moves even when the tool tip value doesn't (when using Shift). This can happen because many knobs only have 63 frames in the visual 'animation', but at LEAST 127 values at the parameter. This also happens for controls that have 1000 values, such as many of the SSL mix...

Re: Why are there only two CV inputs and outputs in Complex-1?
This I am still quite confused by all this in the RS environment - so I've just assumed that older devices (e.g Subtractor filter) only has 128 discrete positions. At then at some point, devices like the MClass "High Definition" EQ has little mico steps in between for Freq, but then I guess you los...

Re: Why are there only two CV inputs and outputs in Complex-1?
I actually noticed this the other day and it's been a roadblock for me in the creation of a combinator - so I actually raised a ticket, hoping to get some insight into the matter. As a quick example, if you have a Thor Rotary set to control the pitch of the Thor's Osc; Sending Thor's Step CV Out to...

Re: Why are there only two CV inputs and outputs in Complex-1?
CV in the Combinator targets the control and acts more like automation of a control. This is why you see the control move and that is restricted to the range and quantization of the control. CV on a device targets the parameter directly (this is why you don't see the controls move). Depending, when...

Re: I/O display - still no one to the rescue??
As a fellow “high input count” studio guy, I totally agree. I currently have a page printed out I keep right below my monitor, which is how I ‘remember’ which instruments are plugged into each input. I have 32 I/O, and back when I only had 4-8 inputs it wasn’t so bad (but still a little frustrating)...

What's so good about them? Genuinely curious as I've never tried them. Do they work well in Reason? I have a lot of VST's, fabfilter, slate digital stuff, arturia, waves, are all in rotation a lot. Quite happy with my sound but a lot of that is my mixing overall I don’t know what others think, but ...

I have somehow giving you a TOTALLY different impression than I intended. I’m not irritated by anything anyone has said. As far as I can tell, we happen to have a very different experience working with audio, that’s all. Which is a good thing IMO.

I’m a recent convert and have decided to go all in with Apollo hardware and all the console, tape (Studer is gold), and summing options for LUNA, where the “system” that they’ve build really shins IMO.
But it’s also awesome to have some of my favorites from UA in Reason as well!

Re: Can MIDI Velocity Control a VST parameter live?
Thanks, all! @huggermugger I will try your suggestion tonight; it seems like you've got it figured out. (Combinator is just not intuitive to me, so thank you.) @DaveyG I can understand using a mod wheel for strings swelling, sforzando, etc. And I, too, can be clumsy on the keyboard, so I appreciate...
