Re: Selig "Surprise"
Selig: Just to be a bit specific: with the Saturation off, does it "bypass" that part of the processing and save CPU? Likewise for the spectrum display? Yes, you are correct. Specifically, if EQ Gain is at 0 dB (no cut, no boost), OR Drive is at 0%, OR Level is at 0%, THEN the process is effectivel...

Re: mixing in mono question
What device are you using to switch to mono, and where is it located in the signal path?Last Alternative wrote: ↑26 Jan 2018Can some body tell me why my song isn't clipping in stereo but does when switched into mono? Makes no sense.
Thanx in advance.

Re: Selig "Surprise"
To Selig! A question! With saturation and spectrum display OFF how is the CPU usage? Basically I find the Reason native EQs are terribly underpowered and I rely more on VST plugins. A 4+2 eq with 10 selectable eq types is exactly what Reason needs to replace the Mclass. If it has lower CPU hit than...

Re: Selig "Surprise"
Looks like an instabuy to me. I think it would be very helpful if (in a future update) we would have an option for automatic gain compensation when increasing drive (and saturation) in the parallel channel. Perhaps I am lazy, but it always really bothers me with RE's & VSTs like the Softube Saturat...

Re: Selig "Surprise"
Interesting idea! One immediate doubt that I have is about the size of the EQ window itself? Considering Reason's notorious problem with stuff being either too small or too blurry (or both), why doesn't it take as much space as possible, with all controls moved to the bottom or the top of the devic...

Re: Selig "Surprise"
How do "level", "gain", and "drive" interact? I can see the need for two of them... Gain is for the EQ. Drive and Level are for the Saturator. Specifically… Gain is for EQ cut or boost amount, which is then sent to the Saturator. Drive is the input level into saturation, and Level is the output/mak...

Re: Synapse RE-160 Compressor - in shop
…Just like with some of my mics I also like to have some decidedly "crappy" ones because there always seems to be ONE perfect application for them. And I might just encounter that ;) This one quote sums up why any one piece of gear is still to be found in my studio “kit”. It only has to do one thin...

I like the dark GUI, and I love all the use of COLOR, but ofc I do. That gui in fact reminds me of the color scheme of the Jiggery Pokery Harmonic Synth, and the fx pedal-like array at the bottom! I like. I'm intriuged by the idea of a note tracking eq. Does this mean I could cut only the fundament...

looks nice - Props should totally let us have “user selectable” fader caps! Definitively ! :puf_bigsmile: A precise EQ need a precise fader ! :D About contrast i was refering to those fonts, too dull. http://oi65.tinypic.com/2qc4euq.jpg First, I DO see some of the text is low in contrast, in case a...

Re: Selig "Surprise"
It's not about device design choices it is about usability and other people eye sight. I too have problem reading these "not so easy to see" labels. Slot numbers 2 and 3 are specially hard to read for me. Making them more whiteish, is not exactly a 3 hour job right? But if people want to make fun a...

man, it's gotta take guts to release an RE. you introduce a feature not found in any other devices, and people quibble about the name and the fader caps! Re: Selig ART Vinyl: "Without the Scratches"
Maybe a stupid question but what can i do to start the crackle and noise in the ART Vinyl Setting without an audible trigger and that it goes on infinite until i stop it manually? :? That’s actually easy. You’ll need a 1 kHz tone and a notch filter. Run the tone at above -66 dBFS into ART and you’l...

Now that's an EQ that's more than just its curves :) Exciting! I have one criticism though: the name. American spelling... and it's a bit... generic? Since the cat is out of the bag, it looks like it's time to regroup and cancel the planned party announcing the release of the ColoringEQ! I'll be more careful next time…

I use side chain filtering to get kick and snare to give equal gain reduction. I use the stereo imager as a high pass filter for this purpose. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I do what you do. it's not exactly the same as the SSL but very close. not sure what would be the need to be using this. I suppose it's another additon to their VST Snapin framework. And since they do most (all?) of their stuff also as RE, there you go. And yes, I recently read an illustrative article (unfortunately...

Re: White space on SSL for transport controls?
Today I had a great idea and then realised it actually wasn't. I was thinking the white space in the mixing desk could be a good place to add transport controls, then I realised you would have to scroll to the top to access them which isn't particularly ergonomic, it's easier to use keyboard shortc...

Reverb freezing - great technique for Reason lovers
Interesting - what I’ve always loved about grain processors is their ability to turn samples in to instant “ Frozen Reverb” patches rather than having to go through the extra steps of “freezing” a reverb and sampling it etc. Proton’s first algorithm does this delightfully well, pretty much turning e...
