Kenni, is there any way we can have sales automatically post in the forum? Would help folks to not miss sales in the future, and save us some time as well (if possible).

Re: Making tracks louder
Thanks again, selig, for that excellent walkthrough of the issue! What you say makes perfect sense of course, and I think I was overcomplicating the issue of "nominal level" and reading too much into it. From reading various previous comments, I had somehow gotten the idea that each nonlinear devic...

Re: Reason Sound Quality
I don't think Reason has any particular sound. It's just that to get a big sound with Reason you have to work way more hard to get it right while in most other daw's you get some big sounds directly out of the box. That's i think a reason too why most people are turning their back to Reason and thi...

Re: Making tracks louder
Sorry to pile on with yet another question for the always-accommodating selig, but: I've noticed you bring up the issue of nominal levels in nonlinear devices a few times, which does seem to be a bit in tension with the idea of level management not being so much "for sonic reasons". So my question ...

Re: Proton Granular Synth!
IF you are already playing the instrument (meaning it has MID focus), then simply hit record and move it - it will be recorded.damasio wrote:Sorry for asking but how can i automate (assign to knobs) functions like POS & Size??
When i right click it, i can't see any way to do that.

Re: Do synths' onboard effects work as send effects?
Hi Loque, I'll upload a file soon, I scrapped the earlier one I was working on. Hey Oster, thanks for the answer. I do not mean to use the effects on the synths as effect units; rather, I'm trying to build a combinator that would act like its own synth (akin to me dreaming of being a dev within rea...

I don't get it
My topic was removed because I don't have time for childish trolling. Acting like children and chiming into a thread about something you don't use and don't intend to use just to make the same immature comments with no substance serves no other purpose, but to troll. Criticism is welcome. But pleas...

Re: Making tracks louder
Well, at 1:02 we see a main mixer peaking at above 0db. The section from 3:24 to 4:01 then talks about bit depth, and I'm not sure whether this invalidates some of what was discussed earlier in this thread. If Reason has this "64 bits" capability that he talks about (around 4:11), then why aim to c...

Ha, funny stuff! There is no censorship here that I've ever seen. Some extremely negative and totally useless threads have been deleted as they serve no purpose other than to possibly encourage others to do the same IMO. Some threads have been deleted after requests from the person who started the t...

Re: Exported project as a wave than i reimported to master for the first time ever in reason and wow!!
For mastering, my chain has before and after EQ. EQ before compression on a bus for correction work (usually all cuts) and EQ after compression is for sweetening. Surgical EQ before comp, tone shaping after comp. On physical SSls the default is compressor first but from the G series on, you had a b...

Automatic Zero dB gain ?
Traditionally there's tracking (recording), overdubbing, mixing, and mastering. Out of those choices, I'd say mixing is the best option for what you're doing, even if you're only mixing one track (a solo piano, mixing dialog for video, etc). Not a perfect description, to be sure. Does 0 dB have a va...

Re: Automatic Zero dB gain ?
0 dB is tricky. MP3 compression clips at 0 dBFS. YouTube, Soundcloud, all tricky at 0 db. Use something like -1 db and you'll be safe. In this case we're discussing tracks you import for mixing, not export for mastering or to publish. Since the normalization is done in the floating point world, the...

Re: Compressor knee range question
Does this mean that one should avoid using the soft knee option completely, until the bug is fixed? It's not really a bug, just a non-standard way of implementing a soft knee IMO. If you choose soft knee before you make other settings, you'll never notice any difference, I would think. If you alrea...

for a cost of a high grade RE you can upgrade Reason You say that like it's a reasonable thing to do  I am not paying $280 to use eXpanse. Re: Automatic Zero dB gain ?
In the application my query was regarding, it's always only three tracks. No parallel processing. When mixing few tracks you can get away with a higher peak level on each track. Using clip gain allows you to quickly adjust all clips together so that your mix level hits where you want. You may find ...

Re: Sampling Loop Points - what am I doing wrong?
It just struck me as the kind of situation where even a minor imperfection in the crossfade might really stand out, given that it will be looping, and of course with the crossfade being between two copies of the same sound. But anyway, if it works, it works! ;) Of course a crossfade loop (which hav...

Re: Automatic Zero dB gain ?
I would setup a Template using the Gain Knobs at the Top of the SSL and set them all to something like -10 dBFS or -18 dBFS and the simply import the files select them all and hit normalize. By using that template you can simply normalize all your stems once you have imported them using a keyboard ...

Cheers - since we're on the topic, how does Leveler process audio below that of the low reading, does it leave it untouched? I would have though if this happened, I would notice. Thank you, very helpful and that sounds like a good tip. I can't launch Reason right now as I'm working in another DAW today, but assuming it's a simple right click menu command or something. I'll work it out. That would also mean that when using the Leveler, I won't have to bother finding the high...

I'm setting up a template for regular tasks, and would like to know if there is a way to set up a blank project track to automatically raise (or lower) the peak levels to always be 0 dB for any stems I import. Re: Can i bring down all the levels of tracks in the mixer all at once without routing to a bus?
You know what's weird? If you use ReTouch, you can link channels together and control as many faders as you want. So how hard would it be to put a little chain icon on the SSL to do the same? Even if only for temporary adjustments? This should've been in reason record, no later than reason 6. We ca...
