Re: How: Selig Gain on every track
Unfortunately, it controls the input gain of a channel, so if the channel contains a non-linear effect (e.g. compressor), it is not a substitute of the channel fader. In that case yes indeed, which is why I will arrange things Thor>Compressor>SSL Mixer. That way my desired signal is not changed by ...

Re: How: Selig Gain on every track
Don't forget that there is a Gain knob up the top of the SSL. This does exactly what you are looking for. I will set a Mix up with all the Faders at 0db using the Gains then if I need Automation during the actual mix, my Faders are free to fly. It doesn't look very mixery with all the sliders at un...

Re: The best workflow enhancement I've ever come up with. What are yours?
Hold shift when dragging a rack device to automatically re-route it to where you're dragging it, so you don't have to spend time plugging and unplugging the audio cables manually. This one ought to be loudly announced somewhere in the GUI because I keep encountering people who've used this program ...

Re: How: Selig Gain on every track
I find myself loading Selig gain on nearly every instrument I load, to dial-in the right levels. I like doing that instead of pushing the faders up, so that everything is pretty much level - and then I use the mixer's faders for minor tweaks in the mixing phase. So... Thanks for sharing “Z”. I didn’t know that, but it’s awesome

Re: Future purchase: RE or VST equivalent.
I feel kinda bad, because I was one of the people criticizing the RE environment. I wouldn't worry about "losing access" to the servers and so on, that's not very likely in the next few years at least. I don't think Reason will just suddenly explode and disappear. Instead, think about what you need...

I love Players. But I use no midi vsts, since reason doesn’t support them.
If the did support them, I’d use reaktor and Cthulhu

Go Korg!!
Love to see the continued investment in vsts from Korg! (Korg gadget was cool too)
Although price is a bit high, this is way better than a ridiculous subscription (I’m looking at you Roland....)

Re: What features are REALLY necessary for Reason 11
There are a bunch of things I’d like (like folder organization, track freeze)
About the only thing that kills me in the sequencer is the inability to quantize note-ends to the grid. Ie highlite a whole section of notes and quantize all their end times to grid in one go.
Overall, reason is a dream

Re: Why did Steam succeed for centralizing game purchasing, but no equivalent for VSTs?
Yes, that’s what I wonder too. If the companies are letting plug-in boutique sell centrally, why the big resistance to a good user experience of central installer? Maybe there are technical hurdles to overcome. This is just a guess here, but perhaps it would require VST to be coded with the install...

Re: Why did Steam succeed for centralizing game purchasing, but no equivalent for VSTs?
What about Plugin Boutique, though? Aside from some of the hugest ones, like NI and Waves, it has about as wide a selection of manufacturers I've seen. Precisely - we may as well ask 'why hasn't Plugin Boutique centralized game purchases'? Yes, that’s what I wonder too. If the companies are letting...

Why did Steam succeed for centralizing game purchasing, but no equivalent for VSTs?
I can't tell why we don't have a VST Store similar to Steam. Props did a pretty good job with RE store, so you could say that's about as close as we've come in having a centralized store that spans multiple sellers, and fully automates installs. But for VSTs, most of the manufacturers have their own...

Bassroom
I found a useful tool, so sharing. Bassroom, by "Mastering the Mix" is a vst to help you EQ your low-end on the master bus. Before I go on, I have to admit that I got interested in this plugin after watching the Snake Oil video on this. Yes, I know. I'm ashamed to admit it. :) Anyway, I wanted to re...

If you could ask Reason Studios one question... ... knowing you'd receive a true, complete and honest answer ... ... what would that question be? Who is Baby Yoda's parents? I get that reason rack is getting midi out, so that players can be used to control other synths in the daw outside the rack. Re: VPS Avenger 1.5 released
I was really annoyed at the codemeter change, since it requires multiple manual steps that were confusing. With reason, we’re used codemeter for years, and it’s seamless. I didn’t even know there was a codemeter tool I could launch! But with avenger, I felt like I was doing brain surgery. Tried to p...

Hm... I am not a fan of IKMultimedia. Is it worth the hassle? I think IK Multimedia really screwed up SampleTank 4. I made the mistake of getting that, since I used to love the sound of SampleTank 1. But the sheer # of bugs is just CRAZY. Installing it took hours to download, and then a process of ...

Re: What is your go-to device for drums, and why?
I'll add two more drum techniques I forgot to list earlier: 1) D16 Punchbox is my favorite for Kicks. It's synthesis based, so lots of knobs to tweak. But the presets are also incredible 2) Unfiltered Audio Triad is also a trick I use: I take a full mix drum loop, and run it through Triad with Prese...

Re: Dry/Wet Knob RE ?
Your best bet is a parallel mix bus, this should use any plugin's delay compensation information. Many FX will introduce a few samples of delay or some phase shifting / inversion. If you straight mix the pre-RE signal with an post-RE signal, you are likely to have some wacky phase cancellation / co...

Re: What is your go-to device for drums, and why?
What we need is something to help our brains with this problem. There are so many options in Reason its overwhelming to try and have any go-to. And if, like me, you work on different genres this problem always resurfaces. To make matters even more mentally stressful there aren't just different plug...

No crashes for me with latest version. Btw, I love the focus in Nexus3 on the full-screen librarian. It's such a nice way to filter quickly, and is super *fast*. It's a dream to browse through the presets now. I compare this to the preset-chooser in Softube plugins, which is an absolute disaster - t...

Re: What is your go-to device for drums, and why?
Lately, it's been XO (XLN Audio) - it organizes my sample library really well, and I route to separate outputs for Kick/Snare/etc. Then, I put Drum Player onto it, since I like that much more than XO's onboard sequencer. If I have infrequent samples (like crashes or risers), I paste them straight in...

Re: VPS Avenger 1.5 released
All Expansions have to be redownloaded from your account, and you have to install Codemeter and authorize Avenger first. Expansions require Codemeter now. Yeah, I had to reinstall expansions too, when only a subset were visible post upgrade. The codemeter stuff was WAY more complicated than reasons...
