Re: MClass Compressor vs Rack Extension Compressors
On a side note - without purchasing UAD cards are there any good 1176 RE's or VST's that won't break the bank? Been wanting one for some time now but haven't had much time for digging.

Re: MClass Compressor vs Rack Extension Compressors
The Fairchild was the first compressors I'm familiar with that has these qualities, which the Manley "Vari-Mu" was loosely based upon. http://www.manley.com/products/view/mslchp This is in addition to the "tube" sound they both embody. The Moo is totally clean. No tube emulation. Although I am a hu...

Re: Need help recreating anlogue kick technique from video
BTW, just been messing around and found Europa is even better at this than Thor, mainly because you have full control over the exponential shape of the envelopes (even though you can't control the shape from a Combinator). May try to build an Europa version of the Thor Combinator tomorrow if I have...

Re: Need help recreating anlogue kick technique from video
Thanks for the replies. Will check out the combi's soon. It looked so simple from the video but I don't know what knobs he was turning and what those knobs actually do. I managed to get a bit better sound after I posted but still nowhere near the quality from the video. I want to avoid having to pu...

Re: Need help recreating anlogue kick technique from video
Re: using Thor… You can easily use Thor for most of this since a lot of the wiring is already done for you. In fact, the ONLY thing I've done with Thor is to create more exponential (snappy) envelops which work better for drums, and patched the Mod Env to control pitch. The rest is all built into T...

Re: Need help recreating anlogue kick technique from video
Man they are some great sounding kicks thanks for the share, this is what I want to do with my first with modular just Kicks. I will hopefully get those modules in the new year myself! I think someone tallied up the cost for those modules used in the video and it's over $1000 for making kick drums ...

Re: MClass Compressor vs Rack Extension Compressors
The mclass doesn't really squash enough to notice. I'll be sticking with Rough Rider for the more crazy stuff. Also, The old comp-01 does a ok job of extreme stuff. What can I say? I love to destroy audio! I'm surprised it's taken this long for someone to mention the Comp-01. I love how i...

Need help recreating anlogue kick technique from video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqh8mB4pDoU I just came across this video of someone using a few eurorack modules to create a kick drum. I tried using some elements within Reason to recreate this but have so far been unsuccessful. I know there are probably much better ways of doing this in Reason bu...

Re: EQ / Mixing Advice
Use the spectrum analyser display in the mixer window. See where your vocals are sitting and then notch that subtly from the strings. For levels, start with 1 element and then bring in the others until it sounds good. Maybe utilise a loudness meterting plugin. Look up LUFS. A good trick is using pin...

Gtune is nice and basic and simple to use (and free). www.gvst.co.uk Capture.JPG MAnalyzer from meldaproduction ain't bad either. Capture.JPG I'm starting to like Melda stuff more and more. But yes, he can be harsh at times, but then again, that's the internet I guess. He's also Dutch (like me), we have this way of being a little too direct. :D Anyway, watching the Thor oscillator tutorial, fantastic stuff. But is he on medication or something? He sounds a bit slurred. So THAT'S what ...

Re: Any way of visualy detecting pitch in in reason?
So is it a big help to match one's percussive sounds to the key? I haven't really played with this yet but curious to know when it might be a good / bad idea. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I'd say kick fundamental should at least be in tune with the bass and maybe snare too depending on the ty...

Re: Any way of visualy detecting pitch in in reason?
Can pitch be analysed visualy with neptune or something similar in reason as im struggling to get all my percussive sounds in key? Detecting pitch of percussive sounds can be made a bit easier if you pitch them up +12 or +24 first. Have you tried dropping the audio file directly in an audio track a...

Why don't you just host them and take songs down if certain artists request it? They gave the song out at one point so things probably haven't changed much (if at all). I'm no lawyer though...

Re: How do I do this in Reason (9.5)
Hey Graeme
Check out this file. I believe it does what you're looking for.
To change notes on the synth, make sure the RPG-8 is selected in the track view (and not triggering notes on the synth). To change the trigger pattern, use slot 3 of the Redrum to program it.

Re: How do I do this in Reason (9.5)
Take a Thor Set the sequencer in Thor to Repeat and then connect a RPG-8 to Thor and voila you have a trigger that works like the one in the video. Use the steps in Thor Sequencer to trig 16ths or 8ths or what ever pattern you like. And regarding 80 sounding patches, I say Thor! I use Thor to do a ...

Re: How do I do this in Reason (9.5)
Hi I was watching this https://youtu.be/Th7gkH10YFM (3:17- 4:47) and wondered how to do this in reason, as this seems to be exactly what reason was initially created for Basically he takes a pattern created on a 707 to trigger the arpeggistor on his Juno How can I say take a pattern from a redrum a...
